What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I ordered Hilux Surf clear corners from [MENTION=38004]ryhi[/MENTION] in California Saturday evening and somehow received them Monday afternoon in Texas. They weren't overnighted and did not make Saturday's outgoing mail, so I'm not even sure how they were delivered so quickly.

Anyway, they look great and I give major props to ryhi for helping me upgrade my 4Runner.

Added the ARB awning to the Yakima basket a few weeks back and yesterday wielded some brackets to the basket for additional lighting. Still working on the wiring.

around here with the heavy wet fog we get, it is better not to use high beams cause of glare that bounces back off the fog to you. low beams and fogs give better visability....at least around here

That's why Toyota designed it that way, which is great for heavy fog use and IMO the only setting fogs should be used if in heavy fog.

My needs are different, which is why I bypassed the power to work with either high or low beams. They now only work with the high or low beams and shut off when headlights are not turned on but now I can manually turn them on or off with either high or low beams. Great for deserted roads when you still want fill light with high beams. I live by the beach and we occasionally get heavy fog, so I can still use them with low beams too :thumb:

It was oil change day at my house. I did the 4runner, Jeep, and Honda Accord Sport in the background which you can barely see. It's a 4-banger with a 6 speed but man that thing is fun and the fastest I've gotten it to go is 118mph. I also installed an FMU over the weekend quick note don't let your younger sister paint it cuz she thinks it matches really well in my truck(it was originally gray and it doesn't match). Quick question for you all. Do any of you know of any good places to order center caps for the 17" tundra rims seen here? I've checked local junkyards and they don't have any or don't know and I went to the dealership which quoted $93 each! I paid $50 for each rim so I'm not about to pay that price. Here's some crappy cell pics of my day.

one of my past cars, a euro car, had factory fogs front and back ( so people coming up behind you can see your there esp if they did not have fogs), but the fogs came on only in low beam, but had a little tiny screw on the switch bezel that you could bypass that function and have your fogs on whenever

I don't think he did it so he could actually try to see better in the fog, being in Oceanside,Ca they get a morning marine layer that last usually til noon (aka coastal eddie's) and then burn off with with the sun , but even then you don't need that mod to see better.
It's either for actual evening/late night wheeling or to blind the f*** out of stupid people

1. Buy a Mini Add-a-Circuit or Add-a-Fuse from any auto parts store (or get some 14-16ga wire)

2. Cut off the existing butt connector that comes already attached

3. Crimp a .187 female terminal (.250 terminals won't work) to the bare wire

4. Reference links I provided to see what tab to bend up on the fog light relay and connect female terminal to that

5. Plug the Add-a-Circuit into the "tail lamp" 10a fuse

6. ???

7. Profit

I did the same thing approximately a year ago. I purchased the rims on CL, and cheap, without center caps. I wasn't going to pay the price for original center caps so I ordered reproduction caps off ebay. Over a year later, they are holding up just fine. The only way to tell they aren't originals is the lack of the emblem.

I followed 4ripcords write up and everything worked out for me. Be patient I guess cuz it took me 5 hours. For the abs speed sensor splice I thought it was the abs module in the engine bay but it's the one under the dash. And the blue/grey wire is in the middle of a bunch of wires so it might be hard to see.

Replaced spark plugs with the correct plugs. Had installed the single electrode. You learn alot on this site!

Did a little maintenance on the rear window.

It was terribly noisy during operation and I could tell that something in there wasn't sitting right.

When I got into the liftgate, I saw the the driver's side glass support and guide was all screwed up. 2 of the bolts where rusted right out of the plastic bracket. So I took that piece off, cleaned it up, put some new bolts in and greased up the guides and some of the other moving parts.

Now the window is 10 times more quiet when I use it and I'm not afraid that it'll just fall off the track/guide anymore.

Installed a mini rocker switch in the radio bezel for the power antenna. My Kenwood unit turns on the power antenna on any setting, so now I can leave it off until desired.
