What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Installed a mini rocker switch in the radio bezel for the power antenna. My Kenwood unit turns on the power antenna on any setting, so now I can leave it off until desired.

g0sh i need to do this so badly!!!!!

i have to turn off my stereo in some parking garages because my antenna hits but my overall height clears..

does anyone know if you can use an OEM fog switch as a monetary switch for the purpose of activating/de-activating the power antenna?????

I prolly misread that, but you wouldn't want a momentary switch or the antenna would re-extend as soon as you let go.
Any on/off switch would work. I'm using an ECT switch in my center console (96) and the husband put a generic on/off switch in the back of the cubby (99)

The switch could be put anywhere you wanted to run some wire to, sky's the limit. No, really, you can't put it in the sky.

I am back and the 4Runner is almost back! Got the 4Runner into the shop and they determined the miss wasn't related to bad compression. Fuel Injector is being replace and should have it back next week.

put on a 98 bumper as I am not a huge fan of the fat lip style...it went on relatively easily...too bad I scratched the fender near the wheel well on D side! ugh but it looks way better..any advice on touch up paint?lol

Installed my new 99' tails and 5100 bilsteins. A complete world of difference, have the front Tundra TRDs with 5100 to install, ran out of daylight, maybe do it tomorrow.

Make sure you align it in short order. After my tundra / FJ lift on both 4runners. had it checked as I more suspected camber went to crap. Surprisingly, toe was altered the most. Would have chewed up tires and wandered all over the freeway and under braking.

Replaced front O2 sensor, didn't have a code but did it anyway. Hoping this will help a little with fuel use. I am at approx 15.5 mpg around town. Fuel is almost down to $2/gal here now.

Olympic National Park and Obstruction Point

Decided to put 700 miles on her since I don't have that many miles built up yet. Explored the prettiest place on earth - The Olympic National Park- mostly pavement. Took a few dirt road excursions but Obstruction Point was the best at 6100 feet. We then went to the Hoh river, best river in the world for winter steelhead. It's also my base camp this winter for climbing Mt Olympus. Had the 0420 code kick on every 100 miles or so. A/F was at 1450-60 most of the time. Time to change the O2 sensor and replace my original exhaust system. I know I have leaks in the muffler. Doug Thorley's and TRD cat back in the future. Lucky for me, where I live we don't have DEQ.

The sound deadening project I did really paid off. I was reading around 64-67dB most of the trip. Extremely quiet ride. My wife loved how quiet it was. (For those that are married - translation = "you can spend more money it!") My best mpg was at 19.08. My worst was 14.4mpg. Average for entire trip was 16.74. Not bad with skids, sliders, bumper and mountain roads.

Stripped the interior. Putting in new carpet and dong a seat swap I haven't seen done yet. The inside smells so much better without the old carpet and all the dust and dirt cleaned out. Have to weld some holes in the roof closed. Stupid previous owner.

MAF cleaning(CEL gone now), Rear differential oil change, trimmed more on the front fender/wells for wheel clearance and an oil change....they could not have put the oil filter in a more difficult place, geez what a pita.

I also found an old repair of a broken part that came loose and was causing a vacuum leak, had me baffled for a while until I saw the tell-tale electrical tape on a hose that should not have had tape on it. I don't even know what the hose is for, but I did a quick temp fix until I can get in there and replace the broken part. The broken "nipple" comes out of the large black plastic box beyond the air filter housing/MAF, the nipple exits the front of the box pointing toward the oil filler cap and has a small/ approx. 3/8" OD 1 foot rubber hose attached to it. That nipple has 4 ribs to add strength well someone broke it off right beyond the ribs which makes attaching a hose impossible now. I can "rig" it to work without buying a new part, but curious if anyone knows what the big black box is called?
