Something kept draining my old battery. Got a new one and found out an original security alarm was the culprit. Culprit taken care of.

Finally got the right trans gasket and filter. Got her all buttoned up and 4qts of fluid and a bottle of red lube guard. Time to see if the internetz is right and my trans goes out or if it lives another 225k.

Removed my limited's running boards!

1 week after purchasing my 4Runner, I finally got the chance to remove the running boards. Definitely gives it a more lifted look.

Replaced the aftermarket starter that came with my used '96 4Runner for a rebuilt OEM. The aftermarket one worked fine but sounded like hell. I removed the upper half of the transmission dipstick tube and filled it with a piece of paper towel to keep crap from falling in it. I then undid the brake line mount on the inside framerail, undid the upper fender brake line mount and the outer frame brake line mount. After that I was able to pull the brake line outboard of the framerail and remove the starter through the wheelwell and replace in reverse.

I also brushed up on my soldering skills. The mice/squirrels decided to eat through my crankshaft position sensor wires on my '96 Taco. God I hate rodents...

Was in the middle of hauling some wood in the trailer down to my grandfathers house when it decided to not want to start. Bad starter is the culprit so i started digging into it and hopefully monday i'll be able to get new contacts from the toyota dealership and have it back up and running.

Having some trouble removing the Trans dip stick though.. any tips? even with some heavy persuasion it doesn't seem to want to budge.

Decided to tighten up my powersteering and alternator belts since it looked fairly new. Had a bad squeal so far so good and took me a good 15min if that.

Tomorrow going to take it to a car washing and pressure wash the bottom. Also might try [MENTION=115590]StreetCreeper[/MENTION] method of polishing up the windows mine is filthy.

Installed these fancy HID projector lights. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. My buddy helped with the housing and wiring installation. A friendly t4r member did the retrofits. Cool stuff -

Pressure washed the mud and oil and grease off the under carriage and installed a new radio.

Gave it a quick pressure wash, top & bottom. Gonna keep washing the under carriage weekly if possible till Krown rustproofing in the first week of December, then it's twice a week for the undercarriage unless it's -10+C. Got to fix a small spot on the frame and pull the TRD cat back that's cracked and throw on a JBA SS that I got on Friday. The TRD exhaust served me well for about 15 years or so.......
