Got it buttoned up and drove it to the gravel lot down the street. It works! I was worried that the broken magnet would adversely affect the locker actuator but it's working like a champ. Hopefully the JB Weld on the partially cracked nose cone will keep that from becoming an issue. Does anybody know of an aftermarket replacement for for the gear cover?
So that's one 'new' 3rd member and a fixed locker actuator for the 96.
May this never ever happen again (that's the tow truck driver up front, real nice guy):
Though since I didn't learn anything except how to deal with e-locker actuator guts and 3rd members there are no guarantees.

This particular job is new to me as it's the first time I've managed to bust something inside there.
I'd like to say I've learned my lesson and will accept winching rather than trying to drive something like that. I'd prolly be lying if I did, though.
Oh you know why it was on the tow truck! It was a pre-fix pic. It's back under its own power, what power it has.
I don't have a supercharger but I'm pretty sure there's an undercharger in there somewhere.
The little nose on the e-locker actuator where the outer gear shaft goes through is cracked about half around. I've JB Welded the crack but have seen more than a few posts with that little nose cracked off.
I don't actually know the scientific term for it, I'm more of a doohickamabob kind of girl.

Finally installed lower ball joints and outer tie rods! Definitely needed. Looked pretty good for 140k miles. But I feel better knowing they are new!

I replaced the inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, and front sway bar end links. All Toyota OEM parts. It handles amazing now and the play in my steering wheel is 95% gone now. No more steering wheel shake on the highway. 135k miles, all the parts I replaced still looked new, however the steering feels a lot better now. The upper ball joints weren't as bad as people make them out to replace. The alignment guy said my control arm bushings still look brand new, so I will hold off replacing them. My alignment came out perfect.

Got about 250 mi on the new 4:88s. Been taking it easy per the break in instructions but so far am really happy with them. Will hopefully put them to work in a couple weeks after break in period.

Got over 300 miles to a tank on my ride home. Also mounted up a 6" light bar in my hood scoop behind my mesh.

I replace my upstream oxygen sensor today not bad at all trying to get the bolts loose and the plug of the oxygen sensor was not bad after all, i remove the 10mm bolt from the braket that hold the oxygen sensor plug that way i could have more room to unplug it. Hoping to see way better mpgss!!!!. On the other end it hurts when i had to pay $174.50 from the dealership.

Installed a set of OME 890s, when I was done something wasn't right. After a few minutes research I found out they are side specific and my 50% chance of getting them right was a loser. Had to do the job all over again.
