What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

just picked up these. there is this odd looking thing on the driver side fender.
Asian/Japanese fender with side mirror.......

Finished replacing the following parts:
Timing belt
Water pump
Thermostat and gasket
Timing belt tensioner
Tensioner idler pulley
Timing idler pulley
Water pump to oil cooler hose
Block to oil cooler hose
Belts
Radiator hoses
Fan mounting bracket
Camshaft and crankshaft oil seals
Crank pulley bolt
All OEM parts from AirCabinMan and Camelback Toyota.
Prior to embarking on the project, I ran some BG Engine Performance restoration through the oil, then changed the oil completely when I was done.
Then I added the big 3 upgrade in the process from Marion Bumper 2 Bumper.
Took about 10 hours to complete the entire project with no air tools, by myself.

How did you know I had previously used Gatorback belts (a LONG time ago)??
That's funny you mention the Gatorback belts, when I first bought the truck 6 years ago, I put them on. I didn't know any better. Now only OEM (Bando or Mitsuobishi).
All my parts were OEM - thanks to AirCabinMan and Camelback Toyota.
I did replace my thermostat and gasket.

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?
Used my snatch block for the first time to pull me off of a tree in the middle of the woods at 1am. Tried to navigate in between two trees down a muddy hill. If I didn't have my winch, tree strap, recovery strap, a good buddy to help spot, & a snatch block the damage would have been MUCH worse.

I contributed to your drive belt replacement DIY on YT some years back by stating that I had some trouble with Gatorback belts lasting for any length of time. Turns out the factory for a period of time was incorrectly making them. I have gone on to use Gatorback belts in serpentine applications with good success. Even 4th gen 4runner guys use them for such. I know that Continental is now making Gatorback belts but haven't used a new one yet.
Even the fan bracket was OEM?

You have an excellent memory.
Aisin from Rock Auto. I assume that Aisin made the original? I didn't spend $450 on the bracket from the dealer.

I imagine they did, at least the bearing is the same one used as in the OEM bracket. I changed mine out in 2014 with an Aisin as well. I had found just the bearing being sold in Thailand but in quantities of 100.
My memory can be downright scary sometimes. Photographic almost.

I went a little crazy the other night with the tire grooving/siping tool on my BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM's 255/75/17.
I have been driving in a winter/snowy climate for a lot of years so I feel VERY comfortable driving in any conditions, but these tires on my '98 have been a sketchy combo. I've been feeling the back end walk out on me at even low to moderate speeds (in 2wd) on the highway so I felt that I needed to do something.
I got a GREAT deal on the tires. 1 brand new spare and 4 with under 1k miles for $500 and I couldn't pass it up.
I guess we'll see what happens once we get a little more snow.
This is just showing the grooving, I'll upload a picture of the siping once they open up a bit.

Let me know when you start looking. I'll have a few that I can unload hopefully this spring. (they're currently in a POD that I don't have access to, I hate moving) They're flaking, but if you intend on PCing them they'd be perfect.
