Am I doing it wrong?

Isn't it supposed to look like that when the weight of the axle is hanging on it?

I jacked the axle up to reconnect it but let it back down before putting the tire on. I would like to get some longer ones.

With over 3" of rear lift yes kind of normal. Longer ones will help a lot. Mine did that also because I somewhat bent my sway bar off-road when one link failed.

Since I'm kind of a cheap ass and I didn't want to pay the ridiculous price for OEM front mud flaps when they can even be found, I was at the junk yard and grabbed some off an '01 Ranger. With a little trimming on the inside (that cant be seen) they fit up to the fender pretty well.

EDIT: Also a better shot of the outlaw II wheels I cleaned up and painted and the new 30x9.50 General Grabber AT2s I put on last week.

today i did a transmission oil change and greased the drive shafts. unfortunately i also found a tear in my passenger steering rack boot with power steering fluid leaking out of it. i guess steering is more important than lifting my runner?

2001 4Runner LED Map Lights

Finally installed my two iddy biddy map lights up front. Ordered JDM ASTAR Extremely Bright 5730 SMD BA9 BA9S 53 57 1895 64111 LED Bulbs,Xenon White from Amazon for $11.99 for both. These are VERY bright. I'm impressed.

Because I don't have iddy biddy fingers to install them, I used a very small zip-tie, just tight enough to "assist" me in locking the bulb in place. Snipped off with small electrical diagonal side cutters. The photo is of a different bulb, but you get the idea.

Changed the radiator. Ordered new grill clips because they all broke as soon as I touched them with a screwdriver.

Easy job.

Use zip ties instead. MUCH easier than those damn clips.

Got a call from a friend who runs the local junkyard. Said he got a 3rd Gen from auction I should take a look see at. Ended up leaving with 3 Dick Cepek DC-2 rims, 2 BFG Mud Terrain KM-2's, Addicted Off Road rear tube bumper, set of Toytec adjustable coilovers, rear Bilstein 5125's and OME 890's, and a pair of LR/SPC UCA's. I wasn't actively seeking to upgrade my truck but strange things happen. Maybe it's like "Christine". It wanted more stuff -

Tried programming new remotes, couldnt find the rs3000, i have remote locks right now but i want to use another fob, just cant seem to figure that thing out.

Thanks folks. I think I'm gonna mount my 265/75's on the rims and install the bumper ASAP. Gave the lift kit to a friend with a 2000 Limited. One shock will need to be replaced. The BFG Mud Terrains are a dilemma -

Have been noticing my center caps are looking bad. Came across a can of rust oleum in the shop yesterday, so I sprayed them. Not terrible. Better than they were. Oh and bonus was parked by another third gen at the hardware store today!

i picked up a few more jdm parts and i also got to test drive a rare jdm turbo diesel conversion 4runner. one of the few hidden here in the northwest. very fun to drive!
