Cursed at her. This 1,000 lb popup was unbelievably taxing on my runner this wkend. Think I need new rear brakes, did the fronts last year/3,000 miles ago but I've never dug in to the rears since I've owned it.. intimidated by drums. Couldn't stop for crap with this thing behind me.

Also couldn't get going for crap. Or get up hills for crap. Seriously thought the trailer had a stuck brake or something but nope (and I only have 4pin, so I wasn't using them anyway)

I love that color!

I have been working on cars for over 20 years now and still when it comes to drum brakes, always take both wheels off and do one side at a time so i can run back over to look at the other side to see where things go back in lol

Finally got my rig back on all fours and out of the garage for the first time since April 10th. Still have a long way to go but very happy to be able to drive her again, especially since the hatch release on my VW stopped working a couple weeks ago.

Drum brakes aren't hard. PRE-BUILD them before trying to install them one spring at a time. Check out my link: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-g...ou-do-your-3rd-gen-today-724.html#post2030784

Are you running stock fronts or did you do the TBU? TBU makes a world of difference!! The BEST mod I've done.

Changed my pcv valve and grommet. The valve came out smoothly but the grommet broke into pieces and fell inside the valve cover. Valve cover came off so I could take the piece out with pliers. Reassembled then the pcv valve broke in two when I went to connect the hose. Long story short: a 5 minute job took 2-3 hours including trips 3 trips to 2 different auto parts stores. Lessons learned: 1. don't change the grommet unless it's leaking 2. Use OEM parts when economically feasible

You're missing another lesson as well.

The right tool for the job.

There are tools that are better than others for the pcv grommet. Although I struggled myself and used vise grips, I think a hose ring plier is ideal.

Google one and you'll see what I mean.

I purchased my 4Runner a week ago and I replaced the rear passenger side seat belt yesterday. I also replaced a few exterior light bulbs that had burned out. Next I will be setting up the ScangaugeII and swapping out a broken cargo D-ring.

I feel your pain here. I went to pull the pcv valve out and the valve broke first and then the grommet broke into pieces. I used a screw driver and some chewed bubble gum to fish all the pieces out and then put it back together to be sure I got all of them. Pain in the ass! Luckily they didn't go too far back. Seems like I got them all.

Installed my MV50 air compressor in the storage compartment. Routed the air line up right side pillar, over the rear gate lamp, down the left side pillar, and through the air vent. The female QD air connection hides in a tube in my CBI Hybrid bumper.

Poked through the headliner and installed paracord grab handles above the driver and passenger front doors, installed louder horns, and installed PA speaker.

Washing, waxing, clay bar...getting ready for the summer, and I came across this, the "Teq" logo, stamped into the door hinges on my driver door. Just a little amusement, maybe made more so by the heat ha.
