AEM F/I C and Boomslang Installation

Getting prepped to install the AEM F/I C and Boomslang harness with the AEM wideband gauge. There's not a lot of room to play with behind the glove box. Looks like I might end having to use it.

That's quite a wiring harness!

What does it do?

It's the lazy man's way of plugging directly into the ECU without having to painstakingly hard wire each wire to the factory harness. It replaces those connectors you see in the 2nd photo. It's a direct plug-n-play. White plugs with green wires plug directly into the ECU. The plugs from the ECU harness plug into the Boomslang.

The problem I'm running into is the lack of room behind the glove box. Can't seem to find a nice place for this to live without some modification.

EDIT: Look at the 2nd photo above post. The factory ECU connectors plug directly into the white female end of the Boomslang. The White connectors with green wires plug directly into the ECU.

Oh - now I see it.

Nice setup!

It 100 degrees in Denver today so I wasn't going to spend any time in my detached un airconditioned garage. So while the new radio is really low on my priority list I decided to assemble the wiring harness since I could do it inside. Came out decent by my standards. I'll probably install the radio tomorrow morning before work.

Besides that, I took the beast to the grocery twice and a coffee shop once. Even parked next to a stock 3rd gen at one point, of course I had to snap a picture.

Depo Crystal Clear Headlights/Corners/Turn Signals and Clear Taillights
Stark brand LED headlights off Amazon
LED corner lights and tag lights
And craigslist find Clear Taillights that have LED Tail/Turn/Reverse Lights

So far I have had no issues with any of them and they are super bright.

Dome and Map Lights have also been replaced with 48SMD and 12SMD Led Panels respectively

Bought a Sig Sauer P232 and wanted somewhere to conceal the gun within arm's reach and easy access without it digging into my hip while driving.

I had a couple locking paddle holsters and came up with this great location!

In arms reach and out of the way.
My foot doesn't come close to it as it's up close to the wall.
Just like going to scratch your inner right ankle to release it from the holster.

Took the paddle off, bought a longer hex bolt (20mm), 4 washers, lock washer, and hex nut. It's a little hard threading the nut initially as it's pretty tight back behind the panel. The hole in the plastic trim panel lines up with a hole in a metal support behind it.

The little plastic push rivet was missing anyways..

I bought it an e-locked rear axle with 4.30's...

Should I try to find a 4.30 front diff, or is it possible to put my stock 3.91's into the 4.30 diff housing? Finding a 4.30 front diff seems difficult...

I do want to eventually run 32's though. So basically I'm confused. :rain:

That drivers side lean would drive my OCD friggin nuts.

That's what happens when you're husky. Naw but I bought a new OME set up. My rear shocks are SHOT. You can tell mine is sagged in the rear more than the other person's. If I just push down on my rear end (of the 4Runner...) it bounces like 2-4 times. Replacing in the next 1-3 weeks.

You do not want to run 4.30 rear and 3.91 front. That would last all but a few weeks before everything messes up. There are quite a few threads on this as reference but even running a 4.10 front with 4.30 rear isn't smart. Either find a 4.30 front or just re-gear to 4.56-4.88 and run 33s.

I can't just swap the 3.91's from my old open diff into the new locked diff? That's what I meant

Oh my mistake. I thought you meant running two differently geared diffs. In theory that doesn't sound like you should have a problem but I don't want to steer you wrong on that as I don't have a damn clue. Someone with more knowledge or sense will help you out I bet.
