What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Installed Poly steering rack bushings and coolant flush. Looks like i'll be fabricating a rear tire carrier when I get my AOR bumpers, I have my spare on the basket, but have about 2" of clearance on my garage door. Won't work when I get an OME lift here in a few weeks... Anyone have advice on hinges/latches for a swing-out rear tire carrier?

got this for about $30 online.



then got the one on the left. i regret not getting the one on the right, i dont like how it angles so much. it cost about $75 online. the one on the right costs about $100 on line. i cut the side bar that goes into the hitch and drilled a to mount it. i then put a 1 inch spacer and bolted my spare onto that.

I must have. Can't imagine why it would have failed otherwise. It baffles me because I used a torque wrench (a husky one that is going to be exchanged)
After further investigation, the torque wrench does not make an audible noise at that level of torque. So I'm thinking I need to be a little more careful next time

After pulling the carpet I noticed that the front seats outer bolts are a high stress point. One bolt ripped through the sheet metal (explains why it felt like a rocking chair). Time to break out the welder.

I actually removed my cigarette lighter a while back and had the wires to use. I have my CB and my USB running off of the original wires with no problem. There are times that I have to charge my GoPro with the USB too. I have had no problems with it charging anything so far.

Well those wires are fused. So it would or should pop the OEM fuse if anything.

It probably should but I still have the 10 amp fuse in and it has yet to pop. Have been running with this set up for a couple months now.

I discovered a crack in my driver side valve cover. Just replaced gaskets on those less than 2 weeks ago :ybrick: Anyone have a driver side valve cover they'd be willing to sell?

Damn. I have a set of a Jdm motor. Basically brand new looking. Just that I didn't change it out because before my usdm motor went I had replaced valve cover gasket. So I put old valve covers on. But try a local junk yard brotha.

I posted in the Want to Buy section and a fellow forum member is going to sell me his. I'm buying both since I over-torqued the bolts and plan on retorquing the other side. I'm just kicking myself over the amount of time it's going to take to re-do them. Also considering reusing the gaskets to avoid wasting another set (less than 2 weeks old)

Installed a Panavise mount so that I can use DashCommand on my old iPhone. The mount is nice and sturdy and I'm liking the mounting location so far.

Installed a new Walker exhaust to replace a rattling rust bucket the PO had put on. The Walker is really quiet, has no drone, and does not hang down below the frame which will be good for off roading.

not nearly as exciting as some of you but i put on some new NGK spark plugs wires on my 98. Old ones were from 2005 noticed a definite difference in the engine purr and smoothness!

that happened to both of my 4runners, a 96 and 97, i attributed it to my weight haha on both it was the bolt closest to the door. the first time i re welded but it broke again. so i ended up just drilling a hole in the floor and have a 4 inch grade 8 bolt going down and underneath i have a big washer so it distributes the pressure. worked like a charm on both of my 4runners.

Haha I'm glad you found the links! I'm actually just using really strong adhesive Velcro to hold the phone on for the time being. It seems to be holding up fine so far.

Took 3.5hrs last Friday to install my lift would have gone quicker but had to sawsall one of the rear shocks off. Gotta love rust free southern trucks!
Rides so much better than the worn out stock springs and shocks

Front:
Tundra Bilstein 5100s with Eibach 3 inch lift coils on second perch
Rear:
4th Gen 2 Inch Lift bilstein 5100s with LC 8 Wraps
Wheels/Tires:
265-75s on 16x8 0 offset
(p.s: Cant figure out what wheels these are they have no markings on the outer wheel. Forgot to ask the tech that put my tires on to check for markings) Anybody have insight? I have searched and searched trying to find a match to them I want a fifth one for a spare

Really makes my tires look small now and I would love to bump up to a 305-70-16 all terrain and finally regear to 4.56s
