What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finished up my install of the solar panels and wiring by dropping in this big bad boy... XS Power 27F.....930 CCA, 91ah, 195 RC... Had planned on going with the 31M but this was a lot less work for not much difference in performance.

Yes, that is a piece of 1/2" rebar you see.... The battery is exactly 1/2 inch narrower than the 24F that was in there before.... The battery case has a groove that the bar sits in perfectly and the factory hold down works perfectly.... I had another tie down laying around so I out that in there for good measure... Sucker isn't going anywhere

The rats nest of wires that you see are for the ARB fridge, the winch, the solar panel, the XP-10 jump port, and the extra 90W solar suitcase for back-up

OEM LBJ's

Did those bolts come with the LBJ? You must drive an 01 or 02.

Worked on my Duel Tranny Gauge today. Got everything hooked up and road tested. I love the dash setup, But I'm not happy with the Sender locations.

I wanted the senders as close to the transmission as I could. So with that, I have them located at the bottom (behind) the radiator, before the hoses pass through to the front and go to the cooler. But of course, no one around here has the correct hose fitting to hold the sender unit so I had to make my own. Due to that, it was bigger then it needed to be. I'm going to move them to right at the Cooler so my gauge will read the temps going into the cooler and back out. It will be much cleaner and the hoses won't be bent as much as they are now.

Other then that, I love how I can tell when the Cooler opens up and the fluid passes through it.

Used red thread locker and torqued to 60lb, marked all 8 bolts with nail Polish and will check often. Torqued castle nut to 105lb.

Read a lot of threads before deciding on these. Couldn't find any reason not to use them. They aren't flange bolts but neither are the 01-02 bolts. Read somewhere that the oem bolts that dealerships are selling now are a good bit lighter than the original bolts.

If anyone has a reason why I should replace them please let me know.

Installed a full set of shrockworks skids, minus the gas tank that was lost in shipping. Had to modify the radiator skid to fit with the CBI bumper. Road trip for family reunion in Cullman,Al till Tuesday, then off to TN, to disconnect for a few days of camping and whatever off-roading we can find.

What did you have to modify? I'm thinking the same bumper skids....

Also, does anyone know how to make this bleeping cover sit flush?

Installed and wired my dual LED lights.

I have a front 41.5 led bar and rear 21.5 bar from this company. Their good quality with a good warranty.

I apologize for bad quality. Phone was dying.

For the passenger side light. I ran the light wire right along where the windshield fluid tube is. Perfect if you ask me. Clean and no wires in the engine.

...so I was working on my Transmission Cooler and the Temp Gauge more today. As posted before, I didn't like how the install was going. I mounted the sensors where I wanted them, but I didn't like how the wiring and hosing looked when I was done. So today I moved them up close to the cooler itself.

I redid all my connections and heat shrunk and zip tied everything nice and clean. I really like how it cleaned up.

So I took it to the beach to really heat it up and test the temps. I like how the temps read when the sensors were closer to the transmission much better. They were more inline with what I was seeing on Torque Pro on my Tablet.
I ran it hard on the beach and Torque Pro started flashing a warning with my temps hitting 240*. My gauge was WAY LOWER then that. Of Course I took the pic right when it flashed but you see the gauge bar... (Third Gauge from the left)

I know the stock tranny sensor is near the front pass. corner of the pan. So it gets a lot of heat from the engine, exhaust, and transmission, and where I have mine currently, I think it will always bug me. So when I get my UCA (If eBay ever gets them back in stock... I sent them another email, BTW) I'll redo this project and get them down as close to the transmission as possible. I'll even run my wires through a hose or other protector so they won't get damaged. I'll start looking for the right sensor fittings as well. Over all I love this Gauge. It's by VEI:

Seems well built, and beefy. You can set Hi and Low Alarms on it as well.

This is Awesome!!! I definitely want make one just like it. Had not seen where someone made a tire carrier that still kept the hitch

Do you have a better overall profile shot? It seems to match the hatch angle pretty well
Here is a pic from the back. I still need to modify it a little bit. Gonna raise it up 2 more inches because the tire doesn't let me hook up my quad trailer

Thanks it looks really good. Definitely going on the want list
Is your problem with coupler release hitting the tire before you can get the coupler on the ball?

That's exactly the problem. Well that and the Jack handle hits the tire when I spin it. In going to move it up and closer to the hatch 2 inches. So two inches higher and two inches closer. I'll post pics

How deep is that gauge? Do you think it would mount down on the shifter bezel like a lot of guys do with the analog gauges?
