What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Changed out my month old Bosch Icon wipers that would grab the windshield too hard and would drag across the glass unless in a monsoon with some Rain X Latitudes. Turns out the bend or curvature of the Bosch is much greater than that of the Latitudes out of the box FWIW.

This afternoon while i had most the dash apart so i could run wires for a spotlight,
i started poking around with a little red button and an on/off switch from the PO. did some searching on here and i guess its some kind of alarm system.
goes to a big cluster of wires and a shock sensor :shrug:

I just opened up my dash tonight, looks a lot like yours only not as well done. It's gonna be super fun removing all that garbage and putting stuff back where it's supposed to be.

Today I replaced the alternator on my 2002... VW, so I could get it out of the garage and put my 4runner back in. Then I pulled apart the dash so I can install the switches for the compressor and rear locker. Got the wires fished through, now I just need get the switches into the dash panel.

627 after tax. Got them same day from a dealer I used to work for. They sell them 10 dollars over cost to general public. I looked them up online 158.00 at Walmart was the lowest I could find them at a few days out. I just so happened to give them a call they said I can have them in the afternoon I ordered them at 10am there at the dealer by 2 pm.

Tightened up the accel, cruise, and kickdown cables. Made a huge improvment in throttle response. I also washed, oil change and cleaned the weather tech mats. Also no longer will be hitting my head on the lift gate when it's cool outside. Monroe lift shocks !

Changed out a full quart of new atf in my power steering and cleaned up my engine block to be able to monitor for leakage after tightening up the valve cover bolts. Also swapped the air filter. Riveting I know.

Yeah I looked at the many pages of our 3rd Gen with different wheels from other Toyotas and saw these were like that's the ticket.

is yours lifted at all, any issues running the 17 inch wheels ?

Not lifted any stock for now. Ran out of extra money to do a lift even thought the suspension is less than 5 months old. I have the TBU and no rubbing like other have complained about even with the lt 265/75/r16 toyo open country they did it run unless it was full lock and compressing I that side. Mainly the passenger side.

Simple and easy way to mount your phone. And actually holds up good on bumpy roads. I mounted it on the drink tray. Have a choice of pulling it out close to you. You can still put your drinks, doesn't block much of the vent or the clock. And close to the charging port.

did some work on my rear drawer/sleeping platform setup. im not any good with wood work, and i think a metal drawer setup would be a much lighter weight. plus im slowly teaching myself to weld, so its another excuse to practice.

decided to build it out of 1/16" thick, 3/4" square tubing. basic mock up of the base:



measured the inside track width between the wheel wells, and its right around 39". decided to make the drawers 36" wide, and when i skin the outsides in thin plywood it should fit pretty snug between the wheel wells.



got the base put together.



to make sure the top and bottom lined up correctly, i used some clamps tacked everything in place, then pulled them apart to finish the welds. i picked up a couple more sticks of tubing, going to cut it into 8" pieces to use as supports, as it needs to be strong enough to support me. drawers will end up being about 9" tall so i should be able to fit most stuff in them. ill be adding a middle rail to separate it into two drawers, and to add support into the middle.

That's one of the gultches right? Love that trail. I was scared shit less years ago doing that drop and thought my 4runner couldn't take it but she handled it great. First hard trail tackled after lift.

Man you guys are making me want to move to Colorado. If only the climbing was year round like it is here. The Forest disService is on a mission here to shut down all the good trials. They're making a ton of stuff on the east side of the SIerra designated wilderness. It sucks.

In the winter I snowboard, we also are in the position to lose a lot of trails. It's mostly irresponsible drivers/campers causing it. It sucks. Pack in pack out and on't bypass the trail. Seems legit right?
