What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Went out on a great ride yesterday and today I was washing the truck and looking things over. I knew I broke the lower bolt assembly on my front end link and I started to look it over.

The side that didn't break...

Problem is, how do I make another one? I don't have my laptop with me so deep research is a bit hard and I dont know how to reference the "rod" and "bushing". What do you call them? I was out on Energy Suspension but didn't find anything close to them. I'll keep looking but any guidance would be great! When I get my laptop back I'll try to go through old emails and find the person who I bought them from also.

I need to do this soon. I just bought my 3rd gen on Saturday and already want to remove them.




aside that, today i didnt do much of anything because I have a cold. Threw some clevis recovery points up front, installed new wipers, attempted to change my plate light bulbs to LEDs (failed because the screws are rusted to hell), and threw a rear tow hook into the 2" receiver
 
i made these today, but did not wire them yet; will be my turn signals when i put my new bumper on. they are tinted black, but are amber lights. i also had help with installing my clarion gps/radio.

Did the TBU today. I also replaced my CVs, changed the front diff fluid, serviced the rear drums. I had new drums ready to go, but didn't need them at all. We just lightly grinded down the shoes and drum surface, cleaned em up, and adjusted them a bit. Done.

Now I got most of the pre-lift maintenance done. This will be the next order of business.

I've heard of machining rotors and drums but... shoes?
 
I give sportbike brake pads a good scrubbing with some sandpaper whenever I get new rotors. Removes any glazing on the pad surface. I would imagine shoes in the drums would be pretty similar...?

Right. Sorry, I didn't machine the shoes or the drum. We just scrubbed the surface rust and dust off lightly with a sanding wheel, vacuumed them out a bit, and were good to go. They looked good and didn't look much thinner than the brand new shoes I had on hand.

installed a "new" head unit I've had sitting around for like 9 years lol

it keeps the antenna up when it's in aux mode etc, do you just install a separate switch to control the antenna?

The antenna comes up when the radio is powered on. Should be the blue wire. Then go down when the radio is powered off.

If you install a switch on that blue wire you should be able to control it manually. There's no real way to make it go down when it's in aux mode though.
