What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Although they're not on yet, I purchased a new set of 265/75/16 BFG Ko2 for $697 shipped to my door. This is the cheapest I've seen this set go for brand new. Found them on Tirerack.com on sale and will get them mounted and balanced at the shop next door to the firehouse for another good deal!:rockon:

Waiting for a call back about some steel to start my front bumper. I need to go get some cardboard to start mockup. I need to pull my factory off without ruining it so get something on paper. Planning to build for a winch but no winch for a while.

Installed new LBJs, OTREs, Endlinks and OME 881/906 and 5100s with 1/4" rear spacers. Sits fairly dead level on all 4 corners. Would have liked a little rake, and maybe will get some once I remove the hitch (it's a 3RZ, 4x4, AT thus no plans to tow)

Next will be new radiator and hoses and figure out my wheel/tire situation. The Tacoma wheels sit too flush for my liking and are very close to the upper control arms.

As it sits today with 130k miles vs the day I bought it from the original owner at 108K.

*Also running boards are staying on for now. We are short people. Would like to do sliders or Nerf Bars, or the eventual plans is to make this our third vehicle and then the boards would come off since it won't be driven daily.

Dropped it off today after work to get a new Pilkington windshield installed, and to have the rust that's formed around the windshield gaskets from the previous aftermarket glass' shitty install dealt with. Tired of having a damp headliner/sun visor after a decent rain.

This windshield is the first "blah" expense I've dealt with in my 2.5+ years of ownership. Even all the other simple maintenance was fun and worth the price. This on the other hand....makes me feel like a boring mature adult....nothing "fun" about a new piece of glass.

First time I've ever replaced a windshield in any of my 10+ vehicles over my 12 year driving career so that's got to account for something????

I've had to deal with the windshield rust from crappy install before I bought a vehicle, no fun. I'm the rock chip nazi in our house, factory glass is the best you can get. You have the same fleet I do, nice!

OEM glass would have been preferable for the 4runner, but the price doesn't warrant it when Pilkington is supposedly top notch.

Now, when it comes time for the LX, you can damn well bet I'm getting OEM glass/molding/rivets. That's a different animal that'll require a specialist with plenty of 100 series installs.

Yes, that was the model I had the issue with. No rivets, windshield and moldings urethaned to the vehicle. I had a pilkington installed in my 4Runner, no issues. Little wavy if you look at from side of vehicle, but looks fine in the cab.

Took out the leather/power seats on the recently aquired 98 Limited to see if I can get them working again. These seats are thrashed. Missing a bunch of parts underneath. Called around to a few salvage yards in the PNW, no joy for replacements seats. Will call around tomorrow and see if I can find something I can cobble parts from.

Bought a new antenna whip for the power antenna, am thinkin a fixed whip might be a better option, as the top entry area is not round, but totally oblong/oval. May take the motor out completely to have a better look, as sometimes I just don't understand on first look.

Got a new top radiator hose to try to address the slight drip (two three drops a day, after tightening the hell out of the clamps, which significantly reduced the leak) I'm seeing.

Not really much progress today, feels more like steps backward

Finally installed some 35x12.5x17 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's on a stock 17" FJ Cruiser steel wheel. I have always been a fan of the black steel wheels and found this to be a great opportunity to run them (plus they are a lot cheaper)

Going to remove all the stock flares / mud flaps as the back is rubbing and possibly upgrade to some Bushwhacker flares. Getting some rubbing on the inner fender when turning but hoping the body lift will give some more clearance as it's pretty close.

If not, then I'll start planning on cutting!

Had to use a spacer up front. Went with the Spidertrax 1.25" spacer.

It's wrapped. It's has stock black paint under the wrap. The wrap I installed is the Avery Matte Khaki.

Where and what kinda deal did you get on just the steelies? I looked forever.

Purchased them from a dealer online with the OEM Toyota center caps. Around $500 shipped to my front door.
