I understand what you mean, the leather doesn't help on cold mornings/nights.

This is the dual stage Dorman heated pads. I know there are other brands available but this brand has worked well for me in the past. Each kit will come with hog ring pliers. They're worthless, you can put them aside.

To get power to the seats. I just purchased one and tapped both heated seat pads to it. I found a fuse slot next to the fuse box next to your left knee area that's powered by ACC (accessory) or IGN (ignition).

I don't know if you have already taken seat covers off before but it is a good idea to get the right tools for dealing with the hog rings (the metal rings holding the seat covers to the foam). The task in my opinion is slightly difficult and a pain and very time consuming. BUT.. I have done this before so coming into it this time I bought the right tools for the job and it saved me hours of pained labor. I suggest getting this:

Use the hog rings that come with the Dorman kit, they are long enough for our application. I juse use two needle nose pliers when installing the hog rings back in.

Um.... Parked it in the garage as its snowing and I need to readjust the parking break before its MOT (UK road worthiness test, that, in, expired on the 1st of December)

I think there is oil contamination on the rear drivers side shoes... I'm hoping it was me being messy with copper slip when putting it together... but we all know what oil contamination on the rear shoes is going to be on a 3rd gen

Apart from moving it I've not driven it in 6 weeks.

Took a break waiting on the battery to charge, but thus far I've:

Replaced the + terminal with one that was not buggered up and loose (half the time you hit the key and all electronics went dead...)

Replaced the air filter and vacuumed the dirt dauber mess out of the front of the box.

And put the before mentioned battery on to charge. It's been sitting on the car lot so I doubt it's been getting charged well. Surprisingly though it was not low as I expected.

And I finished replacing the license plate light bulbs, I'd hate to get stopped for something as silly as that...

Anyway I probably wouldn't post this menial crap but someone put a post threshold on here so I got to whore and BS my way up to 15, which is not going all that quick because I'm not cheating like the rest of the noobs....

I like that red intake plenum. I have often thought of painting my engine bay in a Red/Black theme.

Thanks, its VHT high temp wrinkle paint. They, along with the valve covers, were dirty and needed some love during the VC job. If I could do it over again I'd stick with black. Black's just cleaner IMO.

Finally got around to installing the rear Bilsteins - all the threads on here about the suck factor were true so at least i knew going in....the sawzall made quick work but Klingon death grip was required to use the allen key and open end socket to tighten up the new shocks. DUN!

I thought you had the rear axle out of a 90 series with rear disc brakes?

It's coming together...bringing it up to where I feel good about driving it.

Did an oil change. New filter as well. I was pleased to see it looked pretty good, I changed it because I didn't know how long it had been in there, so I'm glad it wasn't gunk.

This is my first time working on a 4runner so just guess my reaction to the oil filter location....

I think something is leaking oil a bit, lower half of the engine has oil all over it, but no drips anywhere. Figuring valve covers just off the top of my head.

Been working over the interior, cleaning and vaccuming. Gum melted in the center console. Broken glass under the seats, but it's cleaning up nicely.

Engine bay is pretty clean...

Some clever SOB thought this was funny......what's funny is the radio picks up pretty good without it.

I didn't realize 3rd gens ever came with pinstripes or decals . I remember my dad coming home with a new 89 truck and later a 93 truck and removing the decals the first day . It was a Toyota thing .

Hmm, I may learn to love mine then.....I just bought this 3rd gen and got the same thing going on. Be interested to see if you are successful, it does look somewhat better already. Good luck.

It had a front end accident before I got it, best I can tell they put it back together with whatever they could find and didn't go into any great pains at that.

After I own it a while and catch up on maintenance stuff, I may just redo the bumper area. I hate chrome.....an emblem here and there is tolerable, but that bumper chromed, ugh.
