Replaced left rear axle bearing and seal....without a press. While it is possible to do, it took forever to get the old bearing out and pretty much sucked royally. Everything went together pretty easy though and no leaks so far.

I got my truck inspected....and it failed.
Right headlight adjuster was messed up and couldn't be adjusted, right front rotor is undersized and the pads were hanging over, and the parking brake doesn't hold.
So...I ordered new repo headlights for a 2002, two properly sized rotors, and new pads. Parts should be here Friday, so I'll try the inspection again next week. Parking brake was probably my fault. I'm sure I didn't tighten the two locking nuts enough when I took the handle in and out several time while installing the new carpet.
Something of note though...I started a thread a couple weeks ago about using the 13.3" brakes (vs. Tundra's 12.5") from a 4th gen Sport as a kind of TBU PLUS upgrade, but with over 100 views, there have been no responses. I'm going to be the first to do this swap. The calipers are the same 230mm as the Tundra, but with slightly longer mounting tabs to facilitate the extra rotor diameter. The rotor thickness is the same as the Tundra, which is the whole point of the TBU, so that's why I call it the TBU PLUS. There is a 3mm difference in installed height on the rotor, so I will add a 3mm shim to the caliper mounting tabs to center it over the rotor. I'll take some pics and document once I get this done.

It was ugly, trust me. It involved using a dremel and grinding the ball bearing stay around each ball, and then pounding it out with a hammer and flat head screwdriver. (Told you it was ugly.) Once I got all of the balls out the shaft came free and I was left with just removing the inner and outer bearing rings. Not one of my finer days of wrenching and most definitely the wrong way to do it but I did get it done eventually. Re-assembly was quick and relatively easy.
I live in a smallish town. There is only one auto repair shop and when I had taken in my axle to have the press work done they said they can't do 4runner axles. Likely due to the lack of the SST that makes it easy.
One of those "gotta get it done" things that should have taken an hour and took all day. Oh well.
If the other side ever starts to leak I will take the axle in to a well equipped shop to have the press work done.

I bought 265/75/16 BFG KO2 today. Was a tough decision as I liked the looks of 285/75, but 265/75 are more practical.

Bought this kit to do both the 4Runner and my 72 Duster; will use more of it in the old car. Laid RAAMmat down on the exposed flat metal surfaces-under pedals, under driver side rear seat, sides and top of trans tunnel, and a couple small open spots on floorpan. Most of our footwells already have a rubberized type mat glued down to them, and frankly I didn't care enough to peel that stuff just to lay similar stuff back down. Used about 3 sheets (they're maybe 24x12" each). Laid down Ensolite almost wall to wall, from top of firewall to rear seat back hinges. Had to cut out around shifter area and the rear heater of course.
Pulled front seats, console, door sill trim and rear seat lowers. Pulled old nasty carpet out. I vacuum, clean up spills and occasionally shampoo trouble spots but 340k of camping, dirt bike trips with dog in the back take their toll!

I've done carpet swaps like this in 6 old muscle cars and a couple pickup trucks over the years. I gotta say, the 4R floor pans SUCK to get carpet into. Granted, the essex material combined with Mass backing made the carpet itself significantly stiffer and tough around tight corners. Standard cutpile w/o mass back would've been much, much easier. Also its a MOTHER to cut it, I used a combo of utility knife and my EMT shears-and today my hands and wrists are pretty pissed off. Considered firing up the hot knife but didn't want to risk ruining the carpet if I dropped it on a "keeper spot" or similar. Probably woulda cut a lot easier though.
The carpet comes with zero holes in it, just with moldings that roughly match the highs and lows. I cut a circle out for the rear heater fan, and the assorted bolt holes needed. I need to go back today and cut out some jute padding from under the gas pedal-I can't get WOT now haha.
Took probably 5 hours total, working at a leisurely pace with pizza and beer breaks. Anyways, here's how it turned out.

Yes I still gotta clean up the amp wires and bolt it down to the floor. With seat all the way back it doesn't show.I moved seat froward to show the carpet around the seat belt/door sill etc better.
Side note, love the emergency pocket on this seat cover. Any sign of trouble and its reach...

I can see what you mean by it being lighter, but it still looks good actually. Did you order samples beforehand and compare it, or did you just eyeball the pics on their website?
I hadn't shopped that company before (I dont think) but I did look at another company and ordered samples first. I noticed there is a big difference in how the carpet looks in direct sunlight vs in a picture or even just with indoor lighting.
I still need to order carpet soon, so I'm still considering all options, but so far I'm liking this stuff from Stock Interiors.
In your opinion, is it worth getting the mass backing if you are going to lay down sound deadener as well?
Here's some pics of the samples I ordered both in & out of direct sunlight. It's interesting to see that some get darker while others get lighter in color.

I'm in process of replacing my carpet as well and really like the color you chose, I pressured washed mine this past weekend but might give it another wash this coming weekend. Looks a lot cleaner after the wash so hoping it comes out a little cleaner with the second wash. Worse case, I'll just buy some weather tech mats since from your pictures they cover a significant amount of the carpet.

I'm guilty of eyeballing it from online. It's lighter in direct light, plus I overestimated how grungy the old carpet was-in spots that had been protected over the years it was darker and had more grey in it than I thought. Doesn't look too bad, and with the floor mats in looks fine. I'd strongly recommend ordering the samples first to anybody setting up to do carpet. I was in a hurry at the time, and ironically other things came up and the carpet sat in garage forever waiting for me to install...shoulda got the samples!
I think the mass backing is nice but probably overkill with sound deadened underneath it. I'm sure it helps, and because I knew I had it I didn't go crazy with the RAAM mat stuff. And it definitely made the install WAY more work, it just doesn't bend and flow as well so corners suck to deal with. Would be easier to get regular backing and go with more RAAM/Dynamat type work underneath.
The Essex material upgrade from normal cut pile is worth it. Very densely packed fibers and a thick cushy feel to it. I'd for sure recommend that to people, nice stuff.

All clean and new.
After a coolant flush and a test drive my 4Runner is ready for more adventure.

Damn it. I was so set on 265/75 but now I'm having my doubt. If I remember correctly you never re-geared. So do me a favor to help me out. Go drive up a grade that you know and give me your feedback on how much doggier it actually feels then the 265/75's.
The rigs looking really good man. Keep it up.
