What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

THIS is the current situation on my first attempt from this morning with the thin-ass Walker gasket and the cheap-ass Walker Quiet Flow SS 54681 muffler:

Ironic that the Walker gasket is so thin considering the crap fitment of the muffler to the stock cat means it needs to be more than twice as thick.

Look at that flimsy flange bend due to the poor fitment.

Good thing this POS only cost 107 delivered. :flipoff:

I hope it lasts more than a couple of years.

I got a pro tip from a real professional (too late to help me today)... exhaust systems are mandated by law to be warrantied for 5 years... therefore OEM components (including fasteners) are almost always the highest quality parts you can buy for an exhaust system. Maybe next time.

Gonna run home and try and fix this later (will use wide washers and a thicker gasket) with a damn headlight on in the dark.

Tomorrow's my last day to get emissions inspection before $10 penalty for lapsed registration.

Is that the Walker from Rock Auto ?? I was looking at that one but everyone seems to recommend the Bosal . I won't be ordering that walker after seeing that .

Started the engine today. Heard a strange noise. A/C quit, the noise did not. Looked under the hood and noticed smoke coming from the A/C compressor. Shut her down and cut the A/C belt. No more sound, but no more A/C.

So all I really did today is cut an A/C belt.

Not sure what all the melted gunk is. Overheated seals maybe?

Walker stuff sucks... Here's my experience with their CAT..... WALKER CAT REVIEW I used all new Walker exhaust gaskets also and had to replace all 3 of them. Two of them blew out about a month after I put them in.

Havnt been on in a while, pretty since I finished my front bumper. Im ordering parts to add a swing out to my rear bumper from Comp4x4 tonight and gathering some steel tubing tomorrow from a local fab shop. This will probably be my last mod for a long while.

Have a job offer in South Carolina so I should be moving out of Taxachusetts in the next few months to a less socialist state. Also, just found out my wife is pregnant again and Im fighting hard not to get rid of the 4runner and getting rid of my bike instead. 3 kids in car seats in the back of the 4runner doesn't sound reasonable. Anyone done it?

How do you like those weather tech floor mats? Do you have the rear cargo one as well? Been contemplating get some since the previous owner didn't have any and with just thoroughly cleaning the interior carpet. I want to keep it clean

Had my favorite shop here in STL, M.T. Schiele replace the Timing belt at 177k. Said it was the worst they'd ever seen! Also had the water pump, thermostat, valve cover gaskets along with others all replaced as I didn't feel like spending 2 plus days on my driveway doing it. Plus these guys are great mechanics! Getting overdue stuff done before I hit the TAT with my youngest, his buddy, and their fresh drivers permits!

How do you like those weather tech floor mats? Do you have the rear cargo one as well?

I love them. I ski all winter and dirt bike all summer, keeps all the really funky/wet stuff outta my carpet. Quick cleanup too, pull them out and a 5 minute hose/scrub job to like new looks. These are probably 2-3 years old, got them on a group buy on here actually. I don't have the rear cargo mat, although I may end up getting one in the near future. Very nicely made pieces, I'd buy them again in a blink.

What started as a quick add an amp morphed into this. Once I clear it with the wife, I'll strip it all down to metal and sound deaden doors and the whole floor. There's a saying my Grandpa was very fond of and it's stuck with me for many years.

Surprisingly the belt looks new. No cracks, stretches, no melted ribs. It looks like it came right off the shelf.

Yep. It's a squeeze but choosing the right car seat helps....
Radian Sunshine Kids 65 was what we used, I think it's called something else these days.

Now 2 heavier adults and one skinny car seat. Hilarity ensues.

Just tested the old Kenwood 2 channel amp I put in. All I can say is "Holy SHIT". Even with the crappy factor front speakers it's blaring. Loud to the point it's almost drowning out my 12" Pioneer sub in the back. Can't wait for the Infinity Reference Components to get here. Once those go in I'll play with the sub and get it all tuned. I was gonna spring for a 4 channel amp but I think I'll just put that towards my HID retrofit. Best of all my wife OK'd all this already. lol
