Finally got my sliders welded on and replaced my flares with Monstaliner

My little one put me back to work tonight putting in Navigation and XM radio in my runner for her.... Still gotta install the rear-view camera and head unit till I can button the dash back up....

I figured. I read all the write-ups and watched every vid on youtube so I'm as prepared as I can be for whatever goes down. I'm expecting a messy mess because my underside is coated with Fluid Film.

Any helpful tips appreciated.

Mine was coated in oil from a leaky rear main seal & valve covers. Plus at the end I was fighting the sway bar bushings that were too small for my sway bar (didn't know it at the time though) so everything was a pain in the ass. I normally enjoy working on my truck but I didn't enjoy that job at all.

As far as helpful tips — pay someone else to do it while you sit back and enjoy some beer. :cheers:

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Hopefully picking a sport hood for the 3rd gen tonight. Looks like it might have some light surface rust since the guy prepped it for paint and never primered it. Who knows how long it sat that way.

I threw in the towel and dropped her off at the shop. They're going to patch my leaking rear diff (rust), get the siezed rear diff breather out and put in my extension, change my muffler, and try to see why it's dying after car washes.

I had a friend at work listen to my weird noises. We stopped​ in a parking lot, and he gets down to look at my muffler while I'm revving the engine. He gets up and starts laughing and says come look at this. I watched while he revved... the muffler body was flexing lol, so I think I have a broken baffle. So while my noise problem might be fixed, I still gotta figure out the dying.

Got the taking apart stuff done. Took notes in preparation of putting it back together. Got to trail build-brand new multi-use-, mow ours and the neighbor's lawn, hopefully HOPEFULLY bike ride and, among a multitude of other stuff....put truck back together? It's a girl thing. You may or may not understand.

The ladies always seem to have it together, much more than men though the girlfriend sometimes can't let the small things go to allow the big picture to come into focus more easily.

Good luck with the rest of the install. I am in the midst of helping a friend remove an EGR pipe from a Duramax for deletion purposes. It makes the TB change look rather easy.

Pulled one of the rear brake drums apart to replace what I thought was a faulty Self-adjuster. The parking brake wasn't really holding. The cable was snapped inside the drum and also I had yet another oil seal fail. I just happen to keep several handy and replaced it. Then went to grease my driveshaft and discovered that the grease zerk for the slip joint is sheared off. I replaced it and made a video that may help others who don't know what to do. It's a simple job, took me about 5 minutes to do, besides going to the parts store for the fitting. Here's a video.

Installed some Wheelers (Dayster/Prothane) F/R swaybar bushings and front poly end link bushings. Will do the rear end link bushing next weekend when I do back brakes.

Found I have a front end link a little on the loose side so I'll order up one of those soon.

Also, extended my rear breather to the firewall next to the booster. Felt around the tranny/t-case the best I could to find any breathers. Trying to decide how I will extended those..

While I waited in the truck — Jimi and I decided to change out the busted sunvisor clip with a junkyard one I pulled a long time ago but promptly forgot about when it fell to the bottom of the center console.

Sometimes it's just the little things that need doing...
