What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

IMO yeah . Better looking and a redesigned reflector . I bought the new ones some time ago and finally got around to installing them yesterday . If you are on the hunt for new lights ASK your seller if the lenses are glass or plastic . I would search out the glass ones ( as mine are ) because the plastic will just go yellow and fade . On my old ones , one was original and one was a plastic lense and it was pretty bad looking in the end . When I ordered that one replacement years ago I just assumed that the replacement ones were glass too .

Thanks for the info Jeff! I'll check on prices for the 99 headlamp assemblies...and yes, glass or nothing. Here in the hot desert of Arizona those plastic lens yellow really quick from all of the UV that the intense summer sun provides.

I don't drive at night much anymore, but I'd still like to have some decent lights on my T4R.

Do I assume that the assemblies just swap out, using the existing lamps, or do I need new bulbs as well?

So not long ago I was looking for a set of 5 star wheels and came across a set on craigslist with decent 265/75/16 tires. The guy was asking $400 or trade for some Tacoma wheels. So decided to browse craigslist if I can find the taco wheels he's looking for, for cheap and trade him. Ended up finding a mint set for $200, talked the guy down to $80. Messaged the guy with the 5 star wheels and did a straight trade. Really happy with them. They are in great shape.

These ones are with CDCV. Probably don't need it, but I mean...why not??

I was able to finish up the passenger side in about an hour, but had to go do some other things. Looks like tomorrow will be the day I can finally move it out from the back after 3 weeks! Unfortunately 2 of those weeks were just waiting for parts...oh well. It's looking great and I can't wait to flex its legs going to the mall!

Ordered new Denso (taiwan) radiator and Toyota hoses from Amazon for $140-ish delivered

My radiator cap and thermostat are new as of my last timing belt replacement, this time last year

I'll have the order by next weekend and will swap radiators before the summer heat hits here.

2001 SR5 4WD with 131,000 miles and no rust. Got it in Denver driving it back to California on Sunday.

Changed dirty air filter, new Rain-X wiper blades, put working battery in remote so power locks now work.

And so it begins.

They claim in the website to be 4-6 weeks lead times, took only 4 days to get to my house, guess they had some in stock haha

Yesterday I went up Silver Canyon to find the gate as 7000' still locked. WTF Forest service?

Today I went up Coyote Flat. At exactly 14.3 miles from my house I was stopped by a massive snow bank at 10'000'. I tried to pull a [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] and get through it. Sadly the snow was hard as a rock about 2 feet in. Without lockers the front spun away and the rear driver side just dug in. With ARBs I promise you I could have gotten it stuck. lol

Replaced the motor, transmission, swapped to manual transfer case last week and finally changed all the fluids today. Motor from the junkyard with 156000 miles, trans and t-case with 180000-190000 miles. I used Subaru Extra-S 75-90 because thats what I had laying around. Zerex Asian Formula Coolant and just conventional 5-30 with an additive. Gonna change it to synthetic next week. Just trying to break some of the sludge up. Im still trouble shooting the transfer case. I get a 4wd light with 4 LO but not with 4 HI. Might be the switch on the t-case. Capped off the quick disconnect from the old push button 4wd.

Picked up a gas tank skid plate in decent shape from a 2001 at the junkyard. A little bit of rust and one minor dent but it should clean up well. Think I paid too much for it.

I took the 4runner to the paintless dent repairman today to fix several minor dings along the doors, one on the hood, and an ugly dent on the rear hatch by the windshield wiper. It bent the horizontal ridge under the wiper which is a lot more difficult to fix than a flat panel. Also, there is a reinforcement piece inside there and there is no way to access this area from taking the inside panel off, so luckily I had the rear bezel off to access it through the key cylinder hole.

Pretty impressive what a good dent repairman can do. You can still see some slight rippling there but you have to know it's there to see it. It cost a few hundred bucks for everything but so does a good detail. Otherwise I'd be looking for a new rear hatch... Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist.

Now to fix up the scuffs from the bezel, repaint it, fix the rust on the latch, and put it back on.

The most important question of all: what colour should I paint the rear bezel? I am liking the chrome wheels and bumpers and I have some silver rim paint I like. Would silver look weird? Or should I paint it that dark grey like it is now? Black to match the bumper plastic trim?

Put the upper adjustable links on for jambo , with sway bars disconnected I was stuffing the 35s till they rubber the body. Bump stop extensions next

Spent 4 hours in the pouring rain yanking front differential, rear locker, complete wiring harness, skid plates, and some other stuff for my truck. SCS Ray 10's showed up this afternoon and had my 33's mounted back on them.

They look great. Trying to motivate myself to turn more wrenches today but I'm pretty content regardless. Here is them sitting next to the truck. I have TRD caps to add still, despite the mental picture, I really like how they look. Matte bronze goes great with white/black I think for a breakup of the typical black wheels I run.
