Cleaned up the wiring in the engine bay with Ripcords fuse box mount. Been a long time coming...finally cut all of the stock wiring harnesses that came wi my accessories to appropriate lengths so I don't have a birds nest of wires any more.
Banging and grinding on some pinch welds. Also installing an ARB compressor. Mounting that thing was a PITA. As usual I forgot the step by step photos but I'll get the finished ones up later.
Replaced the drivers side rear shock (some shitty Sensen thing) with a KYB, and did the upper rear control arm while I was in there (made it easier to get to the shock top anyways) -- and managed to snap both rear sway arm bolts, so I've got a half-sway bar right now that makes a lot of noise in certain turns and elevation changes. Booo... but I can already tell I like the shocks. A lot less lunge on acceleration and shifting. I had to use a jack to get it compressed into position!
Passenger side will happen Monday most likely (same thing but I won't even think about doing the sway bushing) -- tomorrow I am paying a craigslist dude to install all my new audio gear.
After beating and beating and grinding and beating I still have a tiny rub at full lock when compressed. Sometime next week it will go to my alignment guy. I'll have him use the SPC control arms to push the caster as far positive as he can. That should gain me some more clearance.
Also got the ARB CKMA12 mounted and wired up. There's plenty of room to mount it in this location without having to move anything. I used 1/4" x 4" panhead bolts to raise the compressor up off the fender well. Then mounted the ARB plate to them. It performs great. I dropped tire to 12 PSI and had it back up to 38 PSI in just over 2 minutes.
Not today, but yesterday.... Broke the frame putting it up on jackstands. So there's that. I could probably get it repaired, but there's a lot of other rust. Additionally, my wife is also my insurance agent and has forbade me from doing anything with it other than taking off the parts I want and getting rid of it, so we're off to look at a replacement this afternoon. Yay surprise car shopping! :|
Also found out my back driver side is leaking brake fluid.. So looks like I'm installing the new extended braided lines I have waiting for my suspension project. I'll install them Wednesday or Thursday.
Mounted up a 10" M-SR2 series Spot/ Flood light bar in the hood scoop yesterday.
Made the bracket out of 1/8" aluminum. Going to take it back off and round some of the edges to make it more visually appealing and hit it with some paint. Cant decide to color match it white or just paint it with black engine enamel.
Wired it into the same circuit as my D2 ditch lights and it fills in the center perfectly.
Picture up against the garage door shows the output pattern of the D2s and the light bar.
Last picture is the light bar only on an unlit road in the middle of nowhere.
Rear springs and sway bar end links. Added one 10mm OME trim packer to the driver side. Sits about 1/4" lower on driver side with a full gas tank. I'll have to check again when it's empty. If I could do it again, I would get 3 trim packers and use 2 on driver side and one on the passenger. Pro-Forged sway bar links are very nice and substituted energy suspension bushings for the rubber ones it came with.
replaced the valve cover gaskets the other day, but shortly after i noticed a crack on one of the valve covers. yesterday bought a used one, and got a late start, but finished up today.
also added a new engine sticker, mine was peeling off
Had the truck up and noticed the rear brake line was pretty tight at full droop. Want to get a rear extended line but bent the bracket down in the mean time to have more wiggle room.
I attempted to get mine running. I think i have a nss issue, as if i put it in neutral, it fires up right away, in park, not so much. Oh well, got a new starter relay, didnt do anything good for me. ill start a thread once itll let me
