Well I tried. I thought that I did a good job pounding the weld back after bending it towards engine like Unner, but even after using a heat gun to remold plastic wheel well liner, my 285s are still making contact. I did have to break a couple of those evil plastic retaining clips.but even still, when wheel is fully turned, it is making contact.

I have SPC Light Racing UCAs, so there is a chance to try to correct by finding a setting to push the wheels away from the firewall. I have not messed with those too much because I need to throw my winch (steel cable) on up front and see if I need to raise the coilovers up a bit, and I don't want to keep getting alignments to sort it out.

What am I missing

I have OME 3" lift coils on my Limited and 285/75/16's. I had to Beat the living shit out of the firewall. No joke even the body mount. I gave up on it looking clean cause I'm not doing a body lift. they are dumb in my own opinion. I'm planning on cleaning it up after my shop gets wired. (cutting into the firewall and "tubing" it out. it's really frustrating. Skinny tires would be better next round. I have the KO2's as well.

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Woah! My 315s only occasionally kiss the pinch right now, and cleared real nice on my '97 after a smashed it flat. I'd be interested where your SPC are set to, as well as where your LCA cams are at.
Are the pics you posted on flat ground, or flexed some?
Know what your fender to ground or center of hub measurement is?

Point being, how much are you lifted? I am probably 3.25" front and 3.5" rear now. Truck has a very slight rake and SPC arms set to neutral (0* setting) with plenty of clearance on BOTH sides now.

I am probably about 2.5" up front and a bit over 4" in the rear if memory serves. I am running Pro Comp 7069 with 4" BS.

Yeah, I am a bit baffled as it seems that I have not made it any better, and perhaps, made it worse, or more noisy at least. This could be due to not having the retaining clips yet. I need to source that part number... maybe just cut the wheel liner out of that area completely.

I haven't taken measurements in a while, but newly lifted, I was 23" front and 24.5" rear. I am parked on fairly level ground. I have a few dips in my old asphalt driveway. And of course... there's the alignment. I have Firestone's lifetime alignment that is only about as useful as how busy they are. Mostly toe and go alignments, especially seeing as how the last time I went, they scheduled FOUR people, for the same time, when the shop opened, and only have the one machine.

I believe the SPCs are set at the advised neutral setting I set them to. I don't think Firestone wanted to touch them.

Find a real alignment shop. If you can crank your fronts up a bit first. You know when I put my 295/70r17's on I had the same thing. I ground everything to the point I could see the inside of my truck in spots. Still had rub at full lock at the rear well.

I finally just raised my truck by going to the second notch in the Taco Billies. That put me at 24" center to fender. Then my alignment guy moved the SPC arms plate forward. It's set to E right now and it does not rub. Ever. I confirmed it yesterday with a trial run. My alignment is all within spec expect the drivers caster and that's less then .25 degrees out.

Just do it.

I will take a picture of mine once my stupid SPC bushings arrive. Tore them down with anticipation of Saturday delivery, not showing until Wednesday so truck is playing a Jeep on jackstands again. :smash:

I have 16x8 SCS Ray 10 rims which are 4" BS as well. Plenty of clearance with my arms at "0". I hammered my pinch welds flat, but after adding the puck on the front (3/8 OME spacer, was like $12 from wheelers) that wasn't even necessary for me. I am right about 23 3/4 or so hub to fender.

Yeah, I think I might add the winch, ideally mount my rear 4X Innovations rear swing out bumper with 861s, and get a REAL alignment. That should do it. These SPCs should have plenty of adjustment that is out of the realm of comprehension to Firestone, for me to clear just fine. There is also a chance that I might add a 0.5" lift. It should get sorted.

I also got some of the plastic rivits from Toyota.

Ordered more parts for it this week.

Since I've got the rear bumper and swingout in the works I went ahead and ordered the rear poly body mounts from Sonora Steel. While I was at it I ordered the washer bottle relocate. I was going to just make my own but I felt lazy.

Since going to 295's I've seen my trans temp light come on twice wheeling up long steep grades. Not cool(pun intended). So it was off to Amazon to get a trans cooler, 7" 12V fan, rocker for the fan and an after market trans temp gauge. I've played around with PIDs on torque to try and get the factory unit to register but nothing I've tried worked. This gauge and sending unit will work perfect.

All this should be here this week sometime so Saturday I'll be in the garage. Or maybe Friday night. Then I could feasibly test the install on Saturday. lol

Scangauge2

So I hooked my Scangauge2 that I've had for about 10 years to my 96 T4R LTD.
I was wondering if anyone knows what the x-gauge commands/codes are for trans temp, a/f ratio and any other ones that I can program to display?

Thanks in advance!

Only '99+ are capable of displaying trans temp. '96-'98 are SOL when it comes to that.

My 3rd Gen Friends

All of the loose ends were tied. I replaced my PIAA 510 bulbs, installed my wireless remote on the Winch, cleaned the MAF, replaced the air filter, gave it a bath with a bit of polish and just finished installing my two "patches".

This year, my plan was to meet up in Coos Bay on July 4th with a colleague and friend of mine along with some members of our T4R community to do the OBDR. MeefZah BackOff Rcastle K7CWJ Needless to say, we were all extremely excited. This is such an amazing group and would have been a fantastic trip.

I had just finished putting photos of my family among my patch collection when I decided to turn my phone on and take a picture. You see, I've never been on a vacation without my family since my kiddos were born and last year when I did the WABDR I had my boys and my wife with me. I wanted to see them each and every mile of the way as a constant reminder to me as to what I truly live for - my family.

Court and I are postponing our trip for a later date, hopefully with this amazing team and perhaps others from our community. Court and I received a heartbreaking text this morning and needless to say, we are ridden with grief as we lost a friend and colleague of more than 15 years in a car accident last night.

Life is so fragile my friends, please cherish those you love with every waking breath you have. Wishing you a wonderful 4th of July with your friends and family.

Our journey was to take us from Hauser (Coos Bay) across Oregon and up to Walla Walla. We planned on doing it in 8 days. We had chainsaws ready to go and Court painstakingly added this route along with all possible bypasses in the event of snow.
OBDR 2017.jpg

The back of 4Runner was exceptionally well prepared for this journey. Four Wolfpack boxes. One with spare fluids and 3 qts of Stihl pre-mixed fuel. A second with recovery gear, a third with my dry goods and what not, and a final every day box with utensils, small burner etc. Since my MOAB trip I installed a slide for the 63qt fridge.
OBDR 2017_1.jpg

I had just rearranged my patches so I could put my family at the forefront. I wanted to be reminded of how important they are to me and that my decisions effect them as well as the team. I wanted them along with me on this trip at least in my sights.
OBDR 2017_2.jpg

This was my final photo for the day as I begin to break everything down and try to come to terms with the loss of our friend.
