tried to get the front transfer fill plug out, aint happening. Gonna cut the hex shaft down so I can get the right angle from the wrench because it seems the thing is starting to angle out when I put pressure on it.

If not, finding someone with a welder is next.

Painted the d-ring orange.

Did u soak it in PB Blaster for a few days then heat it up read hot with a propane torch?

I went up to do a little fishing at a few lakes near me. It's one of the few lakes in Cali you can drive to that holds Golden Trout. The trails 4.5 miles and starts at about 7000' and ends at the upper lake at 11000'. There's still a snow drift blocking access about 1/4 mile from the lakes so I hoofed it. I was in a hurry to do some fishing so these are the only shots you get.

This lake is special and is artificial and barbless only with a 2 fish a day 16" or bigger limit. I've never kept a fish from this lake and I never will. If you go here, please respect it. The last thing you want is me ripping you a new one for bait dunking. Which I've done to a few guys over the last year. Notice I didn't mention the lakes name? Do your research and you'll find it easy enough.

pb blaster about every other day for the last week, didn't add heat yet. If I go that route, I'll need to deep clean everything. Between valve covers, rear main, and the junk oil change shop who did the last one before I bought it not using a gasket, there's been a buildup of stuff that I'm assuming can ignite.

I bought a gallon of purple power to start tackling this, but wanted to wait till after changed out the valve cover gaskets.

At this point I felt pretty good about the job thus far. Bleeding the brakes is all that remained.
I used a promotive power bleeder and was able to put 20psi holding. The passenger side rear caliper bled no problem.
The driver side caliper refused to cooperate. I took the bleeder completely out, still no fluid.
I pumped the brake a couple times, nothing. So I cracked loose the hard line on the driver side and tons of fluid was pouring out.
I took the drum off and tried hammering on the caliper to dislodge whatever was blocking it, nothing. I scraped around inside with a pick.
At this point replacing the caliper seems like the best option. So I tightened all the lines up.
Noticed the driver side line is leaking on the Hex-head side of the fitting. No amount of tightening will make it stop.
Its a slow leak, I just dont know how slow yet. Im hoping it will not drain the MC during the 2 weeks that I am gone.

Has anyone had good luck with those autopart store generic rear calipers?
How do I fix the line? Replace? Cut a tiny piece off and learn how to flare with the same fitting?

So yeah, I did all that work only to find some new old problems that were probably already there. Isn't that what Sundays are for?

I think you mean wheel cylinder? Get a new one. I've used dorman wheel cylinders before and they're fine. As for the issue with your brake line replace the whole line up to the tee. There's no point in cutting and flaring when a parts store sells a length that fits and all you need to do is bend it and it's like $5. The slow leak will drain the MC. It happened to my truck with a leak in the line above the rear shock.

Replaced the tunable tip on my Firefly cb antenna. The original rusted out pretty bad after the brass coating wore off.

Good catch, I didnt even notice that I replaced 'wheel cylinder' with 'caliper'. Are you saying I could get a length of brake line that is already pre-flared with fittings?

Threw on some Level 8 Strike Six wheels with 265/75/16 Treadwright Claws (cause I'm cheap like that :becky:)

I further inspected the driver side rear brake line. Turns out I cross threaded that fitting completely. I basically carved brand new threads. I cant believe I did that. It must have happened when I changed out the axle seal a year ago. I guess I'll need to replace that fitting as well. Turns out that a few layers of Teflon tape wrapped around the end of the line temporarily stopped my leak.

Tore the dash apart and restored the CEL Bulb...some shady SOB pulled it before I bought the truck. Also drained and filled the front diff and transfer case. Front Diff looked pretty dirty and have metal shaving on the magnet as well as what looked like some grey grease? Hoping it just hadn't been done in a real long time.

Yes you can. I think it will be about a 30 inch length that you would want.

I think I read somewhere on here that the driver side is like 34in for the hard line. The real question is will it fit in my luggage? Is it just one straight piece that I could gently roll into a coil shape? So far I have found 30in and 40in at oreillys.

Your gonna have to get the longer one, that's what I did and just bent it to fit. Its one straight piece. I suppose if you were careful enough you could bend it into a roll and then straighten later.

The grey grease looking stuff is also metal - but the normal build up from use kind. If it hasn't been changed in a long time, that's all normal. Just no large shavings or a large amount of smaller stuff....
