What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Weird.
Is this really the way they told you to install them ?
I have installed literally about 100 of these kits and have never installed it this way.
Have I been doing it wrong this entire time ?

I looked over the top pieces and have never found a logo on them. I am not sure why; but there is not one. I am not the original installer so I only went off the instructions that ToyTec gave me by email. I emailed them a pic of what I had and they said it looked good, identified the shocks, and told me a loose set of directions to swap them out. I reinstalled the reverse of what I took out.

I have since taken the shocks back out, rotated them, and put them back on in a way I believe ( and the general consensus believes) will work better. Had I not been so focused on the actual shock swap I probably would have caught the misalignment issue.

Got all my parts from TRS last night, so I opened up the headlights and started to scuff the reflector bowls for paint. Excited to start on this project that I wanted to do on my first runner. I even kept the headlights so I would be ready!

Got some FJ80 wheels for $150 and then got them powdercoated at my buddies shop for $180. Always wanted bronze wheels and i think they turned out pretty good.

If you use oven cleaner - Easy Off. It will melt the chrome away within 30 seconds and just wipe it out and rinse. Done and Done. Saved me a huge sanding hassle.

Handing it Down

Getting the 4Runner ready to hand off to my youngest boy who turns 16 in about 6 months (onto a Cruiser or LR for me!) We took it on the TAT this summer which sold him on it!

Anyway, put the front sway bar back on, started base lining fluids and did the Tundra 199mm brake upgrade.

I figured he'd dig the red calipers with the TRD label (me too!).

Noticed that after my 3" lift (w/ diff drop) my inner boots on my OEM CV's started to get upset. I cant see any splits but either way they are throwing a grease party. I have a 2000 mile journey starting Saturday... So I decided to swap in some premium Autozone CV's for the trip, which will only consist of very light off-roading. I wanted to get the OEM ones out ASAP to save them and reboot them later. Was refreshingly easy to change them out.
