Bought it!
Could also ask what I did with my 14 year daughter today. Showed her how to Change the fuel filter.

Not to mention about 2 hours getting the donor vehicle engine out so we can sell it. Ready to lift it out and the fork lift ran out of propane.
This is what happened today :cry2: (if anyone could tell me how to flip a pic that would be great)
Is that a failed UCA joint or a failed spindle?
Packed the truck, 24 hours until Moab!
Could possibly just upgrade to uniball. Should eliminate both possibilities, due to the way it sandwiches the spindle with a bolt and washer.I'm not sure if it was the snap ring that failed or that big metal ring on the spindle. But either way I'm getting a new snap ring and UCA spindle adapter, taking it over to the dealership to get it fixed

Welded that in and applied Bondo Glass and Bondo Hair. After that was smooth enough(I was losing my patience), I taped off where I would paint, prepared the surface and lather on three layers of Chassis Saver. I used Chassis saver cause I didn't have time to paint it properly, but still wanted good rust protection. It turned out better than expected, I'm pretty happy with it.
We were going to Moab but due to weather we changed it to Ouray, CO. Hot weather doesn't work for me..I prefer rain & cold.![]()
I'm an optimist, besides there's a heat wave in San Diego right now. 85F with a high of 90F is no big deal to me.
You have to stick to quick spot welds and jump from one side to the other. Lots of practice definitely helps.Nice. Just a question, how did you weld the bodywork without burning through the thin metal?
It looks like the spindle to me and if so it's going to be expensive. Especially at a dealer.. ouch. You should look at buying beefed up spindle braces.
Can you provide some back story to 'what' happened prior? I would be curious as I know some people who run them with zero problems and they are not nice to the trucks![]()
Post trail ride maintenance. I noticed a new metal rattle on the way home from work after this weekends trail ride. I took the passenger side tire off and played around with a mallet till I found the most likely culprit. Turns out my SPC LR UCAs must have gotten rattled a bit and needed to be re-torqued. I think that did it. I also had to come up with a temp fix for my drop down table that is clanging back and forth due to some latches getting damaged in shipping. They are allowing enough play back and forth with the heavy table to get pretty annoying. I jimmied something up so I don't have to listen to it on the commute. LOL.:lalala:
Oh, and snapped a wheel stud getting the UCAs re-torqued. yippie:frusty: fml.
