Today I sprayed bed liner on the 4runner. Turned out great.
Looks great! I can't wait to see it all put together.
I think if I ever need or want to refresh my paint, I will go with Monstaliner matched close to my millennium silver 4runner. So maybe their Light Quartz Gray. Monstaliner do-it-yourself roll-on truck bed liner
I can only imagine what a pain in the ass that might be, removing bumpers (swing out), armor, working around sliders... I bet it would look great though. And no more worries about trail pinstripes... LOL.
How did your application go?
I was standing on top of my rear tire today and notice a couple rust spots on the roof at the base of the roof rack that I need to address.

Compounded and polished a few body panels, added some poser TRD stickers, did the deck plate mod, cleaned my MAF, reset EFI, got an alignment, and realized I need tie rods, upper ball joints, and possibly lower ball joints too. Zerk fitting on PS UBJ is broken off and grease is just leaking out, tie rod boots are torn, and lower ball joints look brand new (they were replaced by the PO) but don't seem to have any grease in them. Ordering new OEM parts today and letting it take a few days off while I drive my M Coupe and hope the throwout bearing doesn't completely fail. I cannot win with cars right now.

99% done on my expo hitch rack. The cool part is that is slides out 16" away from the hatch so as to leave the rack installed and still allow for access into the back area. Just a few more things and I will have my to-do list done before the High Water Trail trip.

I ended up using a little over 3 quarts. I was afraid i wasnt going to have enough. I was spraying over tan though, so one good coat was plenty. I'd expect to use 6 quarts of you were doing a complete color change.
The application was easy, and fast. It took about an hour to spray the truck, maybe less. I used raptor liner. I had a local shop custom mix the tint. For 6 quarts, gun, and tint was $210. I've used monstaliner in the past and this is basically the same, but cheaper and is put on in individual quarts vs gallons. In the Texas heat, thats a good thing. The whole truck was dry within an hour.
The prep work took about 5 hours with 2 people helping me. Getting the bumper off the back was the hardest part. Sliders actually came in handy because I was able to stand on them to get the roof sanded. If you have a large air compressor (21 gal+) I'd do the Raptor liner.

New CVs (RockAuto FTW) and finally got my winch installed and hooked up. Making a spot and getting the control box mounted and hooked up took a little trial and error but I'm really happy with the result! I was able to modify the brackets that came with the winch and use the existing holes in the fender so no drilling or self tapping screws. Always a positive!

Swapped out my cracked transfer case with one I found in a junk yard. I'm not an expert mechanic by any means, so I was happy that I was able to get it all back together and working on the first try. Took a lot more time taking it apart than I thought it would, but that's life.
Also, swapped out my very warn rear stock springs with the mogg 99 talls. I'm shocked at the difference they made. Does anyone know if the 02's rear springs were the same size out of the factory? Pulled them out and they had identical paint color markings and were the same size.
Need to get a spacer to level out the rear. Driver's side is about 1.5 inches lower than the passengers side.

Yes, they should be able to. I just took the runner up there and we kept looking through sample cards on a wheel/pin until we found nearly the perfect match. Matching a factory color would probably be easier.
And Yes, I cut the back of the hood scoop insert out. I want a place for heat to escape and maybe cool my intake temps on the highway.

My clear coat is starting to go in a few spots but I'm not sure I want as much texture as bedliner adds - though a hardshell coating is kind of cool.
Doesn't that make your intake really dirty when it rains? Just the dripping out of the small drain holes in the scoop combined with dust under the hood is bad enough.

Yes, the rear factory springs should have been the same, same paint code on each.
Are you sure your new springs were not side specific? 1.5 inches is pretty crazy. Did you have that much lean with the factory springs? If not, you got the new ones backwards.

Are you positive that you have ends of the springs seated in the correct orientation? (The lower end, where it seats on the axle)

Yeah, the liner texture depends on a couple things. First, the pressure you spray it at and how fast you move. Lower pressure and faster will give you a rough texture. Slow/heavy and high pressure will leave a flatter texture. I sprayed at 70-80 psi and went slower. This left a thickish coat that does not have a ton of rough texture.
Here you can see, it isn't highly textured. and it isn't rough like sandpaper.
And no, I'm not really worried about the engine getting dirty. maybe more water will help keep it cleaner? I don't ever really clean under the hood, too risky for me with all the electronic components. They get wet from the road when it's raining anyway, so I'm sure the hood scoop won't add a crazy amount of water.
