Had to replace a front aftermarket caliper, one of the pistons was sticking, and sprayed down the underneath with fluid film.

Finally got around to installing my new Toytec lift, loving it so far! Has a pretty nice rake in the back but it's surprisingly not as much as I thought it would be. I would post pics but my iPhone took them in a format that this site can't recognize...

I have the same rubber.... starting to get noisy- as i was told they would as they get older... just hope it isn't something else in the front end..

Thank you, I had BFG's and it sounded like I needed wheel bearings. Switched them out for a Michelin and they were good but I swtched wheels to an American racing an in came the shakes.i did complete suspension in the spring along with some engine maintanence so I knew suspension was out. A freeing had some Tacoma take offs and I had them for a few days shake free and made the move. I will try to figure out the AR wheels and michelins for my 98.( the cutie from east bound and down?)

I thought some more about crumple zones on the bumpers to avoid bending the frame in a minor accident.

One of the hesitations I have to buy an aftermarket bumper is the ones I would consider don't have crumple zones. But I realised that neither do my 98 stock bumpers... The front has none at all, the frame horns will go straight into the impact. The rear has the Y attachments to the body which will do a lot of damage to the weak body sheet metal in an accident... so pick which is worse.

I am thinking I could get some channel and weaken it appropriately and bolt it onto the front of the aftermarket bumper. This would be for road driving. When you get off road you take it off for better approach and departure angles, because you are unlikely going to get in an accident with another car off road. I am more worried about being rear ended on the street (rear bumper). I don't expect I'll ever rear end anyone (front bumper) but you never know...

Then hopefully any car that hits you has crumple zones, so our battering rams remain unscathed. Unless you hit another 3rd gen with an aftermarket bumper.

I didn't get a photo, I should have, but something for real that I did today, not just in my head, was I drove over three worn wheels I have that I want to put winter tires on. I did this to break the bead. Total red neck style!!! It was on the 16" 3 spoke alloy wheels. Now that they're loose I need to get them off. Then I will get the new tires on and balance using the Harbor Freight $70 bubble balancer and sticky weights. I would prefer those weights over the ones that crimp on the edge of the rim because those can get ripped off by a rock. Plus they look butt ugly.

Installed LED’s into the rear hatch. Been meaning to do this for a long time now. Sad that one of the lights doesn’t work but happy with how I turned out. I wired it up to the dome light to turn on and off automatically.

Lol when we want to. Nah but really we just spend WAY to much time cleaning it when we’re done. You should’ve seen it while we were working lol.

- 4Runner rear coil cone bumpstops (my surf didn't come with any)

I got rear-ended in my 99 and just had the rear bumper and lift gate replaced. The brackets holding the rear bumper took most of the impact, while the bumper itself looked damaged but decent. The liftgate however was functional but toast.

I also want to replace my front bumper with something that is stronger than stock, mostly for deer strikes, but I believe part of the fat lip design change introduced in 99 was the front crumple zone which pushed the bumper outward - 98 and earlier front bumpers are always dented because it's the weakest point in the system with no crumple zone. Remember, any impact over a 30 mph is probably going to do damage to sheet metal regardless of what's behind it.

So I finally mounted my twin ARB compressor in my vehicle. I mounted it in the rear storage cubby hole. I can't say that it's a lot of fun running 6 gauge wire through the vehicle but I like where it's at.



I need to pick up a couple odds and ends. Amazon screwed up my order and my Blue Sea mega fuse holder was the wrong type. I should get it sorted soon.



So if Santa would be so kind as to bring me a rear ARB air locker, that would be great. I will forgo the obnoxiously expensive luxury automobile garnished a ridiculously giant damned red bow. It will take up less room in Santa's sleigh too.

Did you got a good deal on the compressor? Looks good tho, and where did u got the air hose coming out from? More pics? i would like to get me one as well for future front locker. Thanks

I did get a good deal on a black Friday sale from 4 WheelParts. I think it was around $400 total with no tax. I figured it was a bit more expensive than a good portable unit, but it would be easy to use for a future locker. I will follow up with a few more pics.

You could have skipped that step and just gone to 861's. Your gonna need them as soon as you decide you want a rear bumper and swingout(s). lol
