If I didn't document I'd never remember what-all was done and did or when! :tongue1:

Those are turn signals from a boneyard Saab. Cutting the fender was a little freaky, but a lot easier than I thought it would be with my little dremel.
I guess my husband liked the result- he found a clear smoked version for the '99.

Taking advantage of my kid's small hands and also trying to get him involved in fiddling with stuff...

The side markers also have turn-signals in them.

I just posted a thread about adding a relay to my marker lights to make them flash with the turn signals vs adding a second bulb to the marker light housing, which I had considered - but they are Japanese clears and I'd rather not muss em up.

Another light-mod project I want to do is under door lighting that lights up when you open the door. Did you do that?

I feel ya on the kid labor, wish mine were interested in helping dad but she's almost a teenager so I should be happy she still talks to me Lol

The relay idea is intriguing...will have to check out that thread for perusal. Love seeing new ideas even if I'm not in the market for them- and you've done some cool things.

I have not done any under-door lighting- seems like it would be a simple enough idea. Given what I use the truck for I'd be more interested in doing rock lights. I supposed one or two could be wired up to light when the door is opened if I wanted that. Hmmmm...

Mine is 14. He'll talk all day and all night but not that much about the relevant stuff. If you want to know what's happening in the world of You-tube though... :bolt:

As far as customer service I ordered 65" sliders built for a 1" body lift and received just that. The back and forth email was prompt enough.
I also asked if the steel was American and got no answer on that one. They came to me marked as Mexican.

Installation required some patience with the nuts-on-a-stick and drilling some holes. I was able to do it by myself and some jackstands.

Over the last couple months I've been reading up on tig & mig welding so I can familiarize myself with metal work for simple fixes & fabrication and thought sliders might be a good first project. Since that process may take a while, I plan on trying round 2 with shrockworks to see if they'd be cool with doing some customizations since they stopped responding to my email exchanges back in September. They were initially hesitant about deviating from their production designs because they said they wanted to focus on production instead of custom fabrication due to increased time. I get that but would have been nice to get a response. I'll try calling them this time but since they were hesitant about customizing, it makes me iffy on them following through with my requests. I still check in with Budbuilt about the clamp/bolt on 3rd gen sliders he said he was working on but since what [MENTION=108156]mountain mike[/MENTION] said about budbuilts 3rd gen sliders being several years in the making seems to be true, they're now my plan C. If I end up learning how to weld together my own sliders, I'd still like to do the bolt on stick nut method shrockworks uses or figure out a way to do a U-bolt design I've seen on land cruisers or the clamp on I've seen on some 5th gens.

Don't overlook arc welding and brazing. I use a stick welder just as much if not more than my mig - sucks to run out of argon in the middle of a project, but I always seem to have more electrodes :wacko:

I like the length of your sliders. From rough measurements I took I think I can get away with 66" sliders maaaybe 67" and still clear my 315s. Just started going through your build in YT, a lot of good information in there & a well laid out table of contents that makes it easy to navigate! Some good looking 4runners at your place. When you gonna move build over to t4r :behindsofa:? jk, this coming from someone that doesn't even have a build thread :nerd:. I joined YT a few years ago but don't think I've ever posted anything there.

Crap it did something wrong. The lights stay on when the headlights are off when the vehicle is turned on. Works right when the runner is off.

Got my Level 8 MK6 rims on the truck. Makes me think I need a more aggressive tire now... and a car wash.

Capped off the rear heat to stop a slow coolant leak, sprayed underneath with fluid film, topped off the coolant obviously, greased the driveshaft, then washed it. I only drive this during the winter season, but it surprises me every time I use it, how well it drives for an 18 year old truck.

Went to the dealership today on my off day to replace my steering rack with a new low/high pressure line assembly, poly bushings for the rack and pulled the front diff to reseal my oil pan. Had to leave it overnight cause I still need to machine my front rotors and replace my pads cause my last mudding adventure ruined my front brakes. Oh and an alignment will probably not hurt tomorrow haha.
