That's not adhesive, that is just how the headlight looks. They are aftermarket of course

Well.... in a way you could say I installed a remote start. Just bought a 2001 4runner yesterday and was surprised this morning when I accidentally remote started it. I didn't think that was something that came from the factory, right? I messed around with it some more later and figured out you press unlock 3 time and hold it.

Installed one of these Scion OEM switches in place of the beige punchout. I'm using it inline in the wire that engages the ADD so I can have 2LO.

The lighting helps a lot. The paint is pretty clean but has a few flaws that I purposely don't photograph.

I'll join the folks posting their updated headlights and added bug deflectors .

Here's mine, with the '99+ headlights and the Toyota OEM bug deflector, the latter courtesy of [MENTION=2891104]rzgkane][/MENTION] (thanks buddy!). Oh and my new tires too!



I put Osram Night Breaker bulbs into the headlights, and I cannot believe how bright they are. I was driving down a dark highway and I could see close to 1/2 mile up the road. So that for sure pushes any thoughts of retrofit further down the road (no pun intended), as these Night breakers in the updated lights are insanely bright, as [MENTION=115590]StreetCreeper[/MENTION] said they would be :thumb:.

Back from the pink shake!! Installed new radiator, upper and lower hoses, thermostat, changed all fluids throughout minus power steering, new red top, new alternator, clean throttle body, and removed interior mold. Just placed an order from wheelers today. Time for some new legs lol. 5100’s with 881/890. Almost sold it but couldn’t part ways. Guess it’s time for mods.

Ahh the irony Leon...

I just completed the HID retrofit on my 97 and am extremely happy with it. I can't compare it to the output you have with those bulbs and newer headlights, but compared to stock it's 10x brighter, maybe 100x . I used DDM tuning HID parts and TYC headlights for a 2002 4Runner.

Thanks. Yes I was in the same boat... Looking for newer lens or was going to buy the TYC units. During my research I saw a bunch of the retrofit threads pop up and figured since I have HID in all my other cars may as well just go all out. It wasn't more than $250-300 and about 4-6 hours of work.

Don’t have pics but put some seat covers in the runner and used double sided Velcro to make it more flush to the back of the seat.. think it came out nice

Welcome to the club!

I would also replace the Lower Ball Joints right away, you can see on the forum that they can easily fail and when it happens... well, you don't want it to happen.

Also check the radiator, that's another good one to replace and/or complement with a tranny fluid cooler.

Finished the LBJ install tonight and checked all fluids. I’m going to do some digging and determine if I want to replace the radiator or add a cooler.

The young man got his license today so tomorrow is the maiden voyage. I’ll let him drive to school then I’m running it through emissions testing and registration.

Saw others cleaning out their fans and thought I'd share my own... two pieces of tree and a flying friend. Not sure if I'm disappointed that there wasn't more or not. This might have been the first time I've had to use a dang torx head anything in forever.
