What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Engine rebuild in full swing. Got it down to the short block today.

Didn't do anything on it today, but spent hours trying to figure out what lift set up to put on my 4runner, what are y'all's thoughts:

-Toytec 3 inch front coils
-Tundra Bilstein 5100s all around (front struts put on the second notch)
-Toytec superflex rear coils
-Diff Drop
-Extended rear brake line

Am I forgetting anything? Anyone have any experience with a similar set up?

for every day driving this is what I have and I really like it so far. ride is like butter.

-Tundra Bilstein 5100s all around (front struts put on the second notch)
-OME 890 rear coils (I rarely have a lot of weight in the back and do minimal "heavy" offroading)
-1" diff drop
-extended rear brake line (i noticed my stock brake like is getting taught when I jack the truck up and remove tires, so I am installing the new extended line this week.)

if you do a lot of 4x4ing then the superflex coils will probably suit you better, a lot of guys on here seem to like them.

There's no need for a new lift thread until you've searched the forum and absorbed all of the information that is currently present. I'd suggest a Sonoran Steel 1.2, I have absolutely no complaints with mine.

Lifted her up. First is before and then after. It was a pain in the ass and I might swap out the 8 wraps for something that won't give it so much rake.

Before you get going with swapping the 8 wraps I have to ask are you going with after market tire swing rear bumper and storage system in cargo area. If you are those 8 wraps will serve you quite well over the long haul, 100k miles.
Thats what I have bumper and storage and have run them that long still going strong nice ride, the extra weight will make it set a bit lower.

I didn't realize how dirty this thing really was till i sprayed a little simple green....can actually see the blue NKG wires now (before I had to wipe them clean to read "NKG" just to ocnfirm they were NKG!!)

and all my door jams were disgusting. it was like this is every door. all better now!

Just bought the Smittybuilt XRC 9.5k Gen2 winch. Gonna end up custom mounting it under my stock bumper and have the fairlead come out where the license plate is.

Didn't know where else to put this but this Hiace Toyota van is up on CL, fresh from Japan. It has the 5VZFE engine. It is auto with AWD. I wonder if you could swap in a manual tranny and a bunch of other 4runner parts (rear locker axle?), lift it and have a great off road rig with some decent interior space. It looks goofy now but with some bigger wheels, bumpers and a lift it would look badass.

Reassembled after painting the wheels and interior. Next up will be to paint the main exterior body millennium silver (very tiny taping should be interesting) and detail the other parts (most of the undercarriage, faux-fading, black-out the sunroof, etc.). Then comes the harder bit of making tiny accessories like a ~ 1:38 scale Yakima Loadwarrior and some taillight guards. Not sure if I'll have to hand paint things like stickers on, or if I can print really tiny ones (even size 2 font may be too large).

How cool! Where did you get the models? I’ve been looking for a white 5th Gen that I can mod like my truck.

I did drive home on it without an issue and it was not until I swapped the CV axle that the missing teeth became evident. Hopefully it will be back on the ground doing DD work again by Wednesday.

In the last 7 days it has received new Toyota LCAs, steering rack, all LCA adjustment parts, and the original IFS axle back in it. Also swapped in a new CV axle from O'Reilly's to replace the one that got messed up on the hill climb.

The door looks practically brand new with a little work. Where did you find the new rubber? This is something mine needs, bad.

not new rubber, just wet/clean rubber. I'd be interested in a 5 door seal kit group buy if there are enough people, and a supplier.

Finished valve cover gaskets/seals, painting valve covers and intake, knock sensors, knock sensor harness, fuel injectors and misc hoses throughout.

Need a new radiator cap as I noticed the spring on mine is missing.

Next up is the timing belt.
