What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Purchased a couple sets of the 5 spoke wheels from a member here. One set is already mounted with new Kumho street tires and the 2nd set will get some refinishing (powdercoat or DIY paint) then some BFG ko2 tires to get into off roading.

I’ll post some photos when I throw them on the truck.

Oh and DIY satoshi grill coming soon.

Made some shackle mounts for a rear bumper build. Just need to buy me some 1/4" shackles now!

That's a good start...I would seriously consider going up to 3/4" though!

Yeah I wouldn't dare run 1/4". I'll drill them out 1" before I'm done.

I just purchased mine today so a did a lot to check inspect it and get it home on the bald , dry rotted tires. Much to come along with tons of build threads since this one is gonna get restored.

I'm trying to avoid thinking about it, although I'm beginning to notice how much more distinctive the lifted trucks look. Maybe after I get all the current projects out of the way .

inner tie rods....

began to install my new OEM inner and outer tie rods but quickly realized I do not own a 27mm or a 32mm open end wrench.... so that stopped me dead.

BUT, I pulled away the boot and discovered a bit of oil, does this mean my seals are bad? (had oil at both ends...0 and it this repairable without removing the entire steering rack?

A pair of chanel lock will get the inner rod loose when you're In a hurry.

hahaha maybe if they were in there. They were never put in the last time the 4runner took a hit (before I owned it) I did pick up some hardware of the road, don't know where it came from.

Upgraded the anemic horns to a nice Bosch set from a big Hemi Dodge truck at the junkyard.



Also spent most of day fighting rust on the frame, front bumper, and skid plates, will post photos once the POR15 dries.

Last time I was stuck and needed to use channel lock I didn't have to counter torque the rack but you never know.

I'd love to see this when it's done. I'm figuring out how to put Limited flares on my SR5. I was going to paint them SEM trim black which is great paint but if your bedliner turns out better I might do that.

Here ya go! I'm super happy with it. I used SEM trim black on my lower valance and grille. They actually go together well.
