What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Was putting everything back together today and ended up stripping one of the threads for the TC to flexplate bolts, so now it just spins and never gets tight...

What's the quickest method to getting it back on the road short of buying a new TC? I need it done by early Tuesday at the latest as I am about to go on vacation with it.

Fabricated a license plate relocation mount for my spare tire carrier, did the ISR mod just to get some more throttle response (I think it accomplished that) and finally got around to mounting my fire extinguisher

Limited to clock repair today. I'm sans an appendix as of Wednesday so the winter/summer tire swap lifting won't happen for 10 more days...

Did the rear shocks today. What a pain in the arse to get the top bolt off!! Drivers side was harder than passengers side but we prevailed..helps to have a 15 year old boy with long skinny arms.[emoji1360] Will tackle the fronts maybe tomorrow or next weekend.

When I did my lift, twice, the best advise I got was to use a sawzall to cut off the shaft of the old shocks. Makes the job so much easier. Literally have it cut in 15 seconds.. then pull off the shaft from the top and the rest of the shock from the bottom.

Cool on the clock repair, are you re-flowing the (I think, large square solders) resistors too?
Fun and games with the appendix, yikes, hopefully caught before rupture. Hope you're good to go again.

You guys going under the gas, make sure someone videos you waking up and coming out of gas. Post it up !!

Picked up some limited leather seats, a roof rack, a Bluetooth pioneer radio, install kit, and wiring, and some misc interior trim pieces for the 96 from a nice local dude who was parting an 01 out. All for $200! I need to go back and get the P/S pump and EVAP canister.

I replaced all those awesome paper speakers with some focal component speakers in the front and focals in the rear also.

Restored power to the headunit, the little 10 amp inline fuse popped. While it was still apart I also shortened the radio wiring harness, when I initially installed the HU I didn't trim it down. I might take the clock apart tomorrow, it's been dead for a few years.

Attempted to clean the MAF, but ran into the "18 years of the elements have turned the MAF screws into mush so I stripped the crap out of them and can't get them off" problem that people seem to have...so once I can figure out how to get those suckers out of there, I'll tackle that.

I followed the advice of others and removed the whole airbox and slotted the stuck screw with a dremel cut-off disk. Then I replaced both screws with M4x0.7x12mm SHCS with lock washers. In case you don't speak screw language, that's a Socket Head Cap Screw, size: M4, thread pitch: 0.7mm, length: 12mm (anything from 10-16mm should fit)

Saturday: replaced fuel filter for the first time. I followed Timmy the Toolman's video and the FSM and it was a piece of cake. link to video

Today: Replaced the injector for cylinder 3, which was a pain in the ass but it fixed my misfire check engine light. At the advice of others I left the plenum in place and just disconnected the throttle body without removing the coolant lines. It was awesome that I didn't have to drain any coolant, but getting the banjo bolt plus two crush washers in place while the throttle body was in the way sucked.

new vs old:

Also, I finally broke the plastic part of my rear seat today. Since I've owned the car I've had to pull with 40+ pounds of force on the pull tab to fold the seats up so I'm not surprised it broke. I'll have to find a new one at a pick-n-pull and maybe try to shave down an edge so it doesn't get so stuck.

I'm curious how the front tweeter cover fits? It looks like the Focal tweets are larger than the stock ones by about .25" I'm in the process of putting in a new head unit (pioneer AVH-2330) and would like to match it with some quality speakers.

thanks for any input

picked it up from the mechanic, he found the parasitic drain (door locks). He was able to bring the wattage down from 8.8 to 2 volts. He says if I let the 4R sit for about a week itll slowly start to drain the battery again but would be fine if I were to drive it all the time and recommends pulling the negative terminal when not in use.

came across an post this post: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/2721149-post1.html

same symptoms minus the sunroof and windows getting constant power. might replace integration relay with one of the two i picked up from the junk yard when the weather isn't too bad but need to ask the mechanic what wire he tapped off or trace it myself.

also picked up a 99 cargo compartment panel, wish I would've bought the driver side cause the colors don't match my 98. :mad2:

I had this happen. I ended used some 1" webbing with a grommetted loop. Used the same screw. Gave it a little color but I can yank on them and they don't get held up at all

There is a bracket that you hot glue the tweeters to and they fit perfect behind the little grill thing.
