What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Attempted to clean the MAF, but ran into the "18 years of the elements have turned the MAF screws into mush so I stripped the crap out of them and can't get them off" problem that people seem to have...so once I can figure out how to get those suckers out of there, I'll tackle that.

Probably worth mentioning here... Those are not Phillips screws on that hold the MAF in place, they are JIS cross-head screws. Get the right driver and you won't be stripping them any more.

I did not know that there was such a thing. Wow, never to old to learn something. Explains why I rounded some heads of screws out on my daughters Honda..

I replaced all those awesome paper speakers with some focal component speakers in the front and focals in the rear also.

Those JIS screwdrivers are hard to find. I ordered a couple from Amazon, and they were shipped from Japan. Took a month.

But they are a life-saver. A must have for any Toyota/Honda/Nissan hobbyist.

Vessel Megadora 900 three screwdriver set? It looks like 2 are the same size head, only different length shaft.

Caught up on some maintenance now the weather warmed up to the 50ish. Oil change, oil filter, rotated tires, rear diff oil. Rinsed off about 20lbs of mud and gravel and road salt. Pretty boring.

There are no Philips screws in the whole truck... So yeah, that was your issue. Even the interior panel screws are JIS and work much better with the correct driver.

Finally got around to getting the head unit installed over my bday weekend. The wife got it for me for Christmas! Degreased the engine bay and it’s looking like new again. Also did a much needed oil change.

Here it is at the shop by brother works at. He put in the radio for me

Been busy with work and life but Friday morning I happened upon my neighbor in our parking g garage with - you guessed it - a broken lower ball joint on the passenger side of her 97 Limited 2WD, 197K miles.

She was in a bind so I offered to help her and that evening I swapped both LBJs for her with Toyota parts from the local dealer. She was lucky it happened at basically at 0 MPH as there was zero addl damage, but her UBJ looked like it was getting dry, so it's on her list to have replaced.

Anyway, another PSA for LBJ replacement before they break and bite you, or worse.
