I bought my 3rd Gen 4Runner today! It’s a 1999 Limited. The color is kind of off-white (not sure what it’s actually called) with silver flares and cladding and a tan leather interior. It has 146,000 miles and almost ZERO rust which is nearly unheard of for a ~20 year old car up here in New England as I’m sure many of you know.
Hoping to get some pictures taken and posted this weekend. So happy to be able to participate here after months of lurking jealously in the shadows!

So it was you who snaked me on that!! I saw one that sounds like that on RI CL for like ONE day, I thought "man, I have to go look at it this weekend!" Aaaaand the next day the ad was gone.

They work on contact so if they are dimming out means they are loose and not making full contact on the stupid copper ring on the circuit board. Mine would flutter sometimes so took it back apart and pressed them in a bit more and twisted until the leads were almost to the end of the copper film.

The plastic housing that the LEDs come in is subpar and not cut correctly so ended up switching them into the old housing. Up to you works either way but a bit OCD in that matter.

Also check out [MENTION=147235]Renegade_Medic[/MENTION] mothra build thread I believe page 6 or something has his full light list from super bright.

It’s such a nice truck! I just got really lucky I guess. I was just driving around and got distracted by a Land Cruiser 80 parked in front of Tarbox in NK. When I stopped to look at I checked my phone, it refreshed Craigslist automatically, and the post was only 25 minutes old. Called him, drove right up, and it was mine before I knew it!
The good ones go fast, it’s all luck of the draw. I hope you’re able to steal a gem away from someone else soon!!! We’ll have to meet up when you do.

[MENTION=103381]D Rock[/MENTION], did you get any light spots on the climate controls? When I installed mine the light was spotty. Bought mine from the same place.

Yes there are some bright spots where i installed the LEDs, it can be avoided if you put cellophane to help disperse the bright spots out.

Fixed dodgy right turn problem. Had to remove the switch assembly from steering column and open up the switch. Bit freaky as many tiny parts seeked liberation. Found silliness inside as one of the moving strips (two on the moving block) just had bumps to contact the strip, the other strip runs on pads. Why I ask ?? Anyway, I swapped them around and now the right turn functions perfectly and the left is still good too.

JY called me yesterday morning to LMK that they could now sell parts off of the '99 Limited that I saw earlier in the week.:bolt:

I snagged a nice steering wheel ( leather to match my tattered one), clean floor mats ( carpet) and "Toyota" branded rubber winter weather floor mats, clean center console leather cover and the correct colored wood grain stereo bezel.

They broke one of the tabs when getting the bezel off, so they gave it to me very cheap. I found the broken tab and used some 3M urethane plastic adhesive to build it up around the tab. It seems to be holding, I got it and everything else installed today.

Tried to replace RH Front Ext door handle but I have a unique part

So I went to a local wrecker and he assured me that the part he had would fit. Only after tearing my door open only to realise it doesn’t and I am trying to figure out why.
Nearly every part available on the internet does not have the extra piece shown above the spring. (even exploded diagram in my FSM shows readily available part). See attached photo.
(There are a few: one silver one in CA, black one in UAE, and one is Bristol, UK)
Any insight would be useful.
I have black 1999 4Runner, SR5, manual transmission with 3.4L V6 engine, power windows, LHD.

Finally got off my butt and installed OME 861 rear coils. Well, technically I got ON my butt to do it. Had to crank the Fox's up a couple turns in the front to match. I left a bit more rake than desired for any settling- although I don't think these ones will drop very much. Dark out when I finished but if anybody wants measurements lemme know, can do tomorrow.

Getting close to being all prepped for 35's next time, yay!

Also found a broken rear sway bracket, so I get to go pull one at the junk yard tomorrow. Not so much yay...haha.

I am new around here and picked up a 2000 SR5 with 134k miles about a month ago. Yesterday, installed FJ Cruiser wheels and 265/70 R17 duratracs. I wasn’t 100% sure the tires would fit but trolling here enough gave me the confidence to give it a shot. No rubbing issues!

I also installed an aftermarket radio with Bluetooth and started replacing the rusted rear bumper with a new one. Finishing that up this morning and removing the side steps while it’s up in the air. I had to get some hardware to replace the bolts I cut getting it off. Aside from the bumper and hitch, there is minimal rust anywhere. It was a well cared for truck.

several little things, Pressure washed the rest of the built up grease off the engine. repaired sunglasses holder with some brass rod. installed new piece of hose on windshield washer pump, they work now. Topped off oil and power steering fluid. adjusted the hood so it lines up and opens easily. Installed new passenger side front corner light. put can of injector cleaner in the tank.



And the most important thing, Screwed new license plate on and handed the keys to Bella, and she got to take it for her first drive on the road!!!!!. :car::lookout:

Hmm, I had these but they kept leaking air after a couple of years. I switch to their wireless airlift solution and it runs much more reliably, I think because there are fewer and shorter lines/feeds/solenoids, etc. and I have the remote programmed for a one touch high and low setting, so I don't have to hold the buttons down.

If they were used, be mindful of your connectors since with age they seem to lose air.

Congrats to Bella. I am not sure how well I could tackle the traffic on 17/Mathis Ferry/Rifle Range these days at a young age. Crazy amount of people living in Mt. P. these days.
