Fixed my bouncy rear end by removing the Tundra rear 5100s. I replaced with 80 Series Land Cruiser shocks. Significant improvement in road handling. I was sad that I had to cut the Bilsteins out. They are only about 2 years old and I planned on reselling them, but the top nuts had other ideas...

First time I'm reading this so I'm curious... Were the bilsteins bouncy due to springs you had or are they a bit harsh overall? I'm researching stuff for my lift that's coming over this winter and 5100s were on the list for shocks all around.

The Bilsteins were too soft for me. I used Tundra 5100s, which are super soft for some reason. The Tundra weighs a lot more than the 4R and hauls more, but then again it has Leaf springs so maybe that's why. Depending on lift height, and how much weight you are going to carry, there are lots of options. I just started a thread with tons of shock info and more to come.

Every single passenger that I have ever driven slides out of the seat rather than lifting their lazy a**es out... So, like many 3rd gens, the plastic panel on the outside of the seat has been broken for forever. Finally got around to fixing it! A little plastic welding, some wire mesh, scrap metal and a few rivets did the trick :)

Replaced the door switch on my rear passenger door. Seemed like that was invariably the door I needed to get something out of if it was really dark.

Very cool, I think my bell cranks are seized too. Been hesitating to take the rears apart. soon! Congrats

Thanks! It's not as much that the rears are that difficult, it's just that I do drum brakes so seldom that I have to remember how to do it each time. Sure I'll forget all the tricks by the next time I have to do a set.....

i drove it to work, still mulling over some ecu issues. I'm currently waiting on delivery of a mongoose cable so i can see what the hell my manual ecu is trying to do.
