What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Tried to figure out why my reverse lights don't work. Tried to hotwire the switch as per the youtube/forums say (5 speed) and still no luck. Bulbs are good.

Easy enough to check if the switch is functioning though I suppose if bypassing it isn't doing the trick that's not a good sign.

Said switch is located on the right side of the tranny, in front of the transfer case. In the foreground of the pic you can see the front o2 sensor. All that red is from Utah.

The reverse light wire that runs to the rear is light blue/red on my truck.

I hotwired the connector with a paperclip....no lights. You're right, not a good sign.

I'm wondering if the wiring runs through the ECM, not sure why it would, but not sure why I would be having wiring issues on that circuit either....mine's been babied and clean underneath, and no hacked wiring anywhere as far as I can tell.

I prefer to think of my leaky valve covers in a positive light – free rust proofing for all the parts that are lucky enough to get some. :hat:

Oh god. I ran thru this gambit on my '93. Ended up being related to the trailer harness shorting.

Funny but damn it, alright which ones do you have or what sizes do you recommend? lol. I've been needing to get some of those anyway but never made the time to look into which sizes or types to get because Vessel offers some different features within their JIS screwdrivers.

Installed LED cabin and map lights. I can't believe how much of a difference the new LED light make.

I replaced those 2 little stinking 99+ maf screws with little allen bolts because the phillips head screws are annoying.

Haha I like this. I feel the same way. In my case the actual valve cover in the corner closest to the radiator on the drivers side is cracked.. It will get addressed when I do the timing belt in 20k miles :lmao:

Scored big Tuesday finding Y2k E-locker axle on car-part, listed less than two hr.
Yesterday rode 338 miles round trip to lay my hands on it. drum to drum w/ arms, swaybar,
E-brake cables, all needed electrical, 127k miles, from SE area which means zero rust. $700 :high5:
Today, put axle on stand, tear down for gears, seals, bearings if needed, this find made my year. :banana:

My favorite and most used power tool. I'm about to get a metabo drill also since my ryobi won't hold a charge anymore. Deciding if I want to get the hammer drill or regular drill. They're identical in cost and features except the hammer drill is an inch longer but the only time I could see myself using the hammer function is bolting down a safe to concrete.

In reference to removing the bolts on the grab handle to run a microphone line to the visor. Late to reply but in case anyone does a search on this: We took the bent ends of a bungy strap and pried back the plastic then pushed the mic wire into the gap with a stick. Same results as taking off the plastic (which I tried to do, too, and gave up when I stripped the bolt).

Last week got my front windows retinted. . I guess that even though some years with privacy glass, the fronts were not done. Previous owner had the fronts tinted. they were in bad shape so had redone. Shop confirmed rest of glass in 4 runner is tinted glass ( not a film)
since I have noticed several 99 and 2000 with no tinted front door glass.

Tinted front windows is illegal in most locations, so it will never be stock on any vehicle.

Well today was fun! :gun4:
Realized a leak in my brake lines, replaced brake pads and rotors while I had it opened up, also did a oil change, trans flush, coolant flush, transmission flush, spark plugs replaced all belts and timing belt and water pump, thermostat and gasket! My 4Runner is good to go! :banana:
