What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Finished some preventive maintenance on the 99 4Runner I got last week.
So far I’ve:
Balanced/rotates tires
Cleaned MAF
Oil/filter change
Coolant change
New plugs/wires
New Fuel filter
New PCV valve (old one was NASTY)
Manual trans fluid change (new plugs)
Rear differential fluid change (new plugs too)
Steam cleaned the under carriage, found out motor did NOT have an oil leak, just years of lazy mechanics not cleaning up after oil changes.
Hit 299,000 today.
So far I’ve:

Replaced PCV valve, that round gasket is a pain in the ass to get out. It broke off into several pieces. Luckily I was able to use a needle to skewer each piece out.
I think it runs better...couldn’t really tell a difference. Oh well, preventive maintenance done.

Slowly progressing, mls gaskets, heads on, cams in, all set and ready for valve covers as of this evening.
I ran out of light but that's okay, the wind picked up and the temp dropped 12 degrees for the last 3 cams and I got c-c-c-cold.
Thinking about changing out the knock sensors and the wire harness as well?

It's a very good thought as you can see them right there in the valley. Super easy access.
Mine have 22,000 miles on them- I was planning on only doing the harness when I did the valve cover gaskets a couple of years ago but the knock sensor plastic crumbled when I disconnected the harness. The 'new' ones are Beck Arnley and the harness is Toyota. So far so good and no CEL, but this truck is very stingy with CELs.
36 degrees which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't misty and sometimes drizzling. Inside now to both warm up and make lunch.
Exhaust manifolds go on next.

Had a little bit of time of time this weekend, so I went ahead and got my turn signals finally wired in and mounted. They are looking beautiful. Soon those LED's will be filled in as well!
Also, my Bilstein 5100's are in. Huge shout out and thanks to [MENTION=80392]Wheeler[/MENTION]'s Off-Road, Inc. for having some of the best staff that helped me figure out exactly what I needed and got it to me within a matter of 2-3 days. Can't wait to install these !

Finally got my torque converter replaced, flushed the tranny with Castrol Import ATF, smooth as butter now.
Lesson learned: bought a Chinese made IAC to replace the sticking one I didn’t want to clean, couldn’t get the idle down past 800, cleaned the old one, now at 700. Probably will buy a new Toyo IAC next year. Still love driving it.

Replaced the PCV valve and grommet. PCV valve broke in my hand and then the grommet was so brittle it fell into the valve cover. I fished it out with a pair of needles nose and then took the shop vac with a small attachment to get the rest. I was sweating bullets. This $3 dollar fix was about to get expensive.

Just got my 4runner back after swapping out the old engine with a Japanese engine. Replaced the ujoints along w/ the stock alternator w/ the GM 140 amp alternator while engine was being swapped.
Also got new tint on all windows minus the windshield today. I chose Formula 1 Pinnacle series tint for my windows, 35% for the front windows and 15% for the rears and tailgate.
Now just waiting for the wife to see the credit card bill with the tint purchase on it since it was a spur of the moment purchase

Knocked a few items off of the to-do list...
Got the winter wheels and tires installed finally. Had to slap some black plasti on them for kicks. This is the 3rd year running the 245/75 Cooper M+S tires and they are finally starting to show some wear. I deepened up the sipes with an Ideal tire groover awhile back. Hopefully I gain back some performance.
I also got the interior of the frame heavily Fluid-Filmed, 1/2 gallon on just the interior before I ran out! Does anyone else just completely dread the application but at the same time a HUGE believer in the product?

Yes. N btw... great to see the work you put into siping the tires. Night and day when I have done that for winter prep if snow is in your near future.

My 16yr old son inherited my 4Runner on his birthday. He worked all summer to start making all the mods I wanted to do when it was mine (I bought myself a new F150). We put a ToyTec 3” lift w/1.5” BL. SPC UCA’s and today....Cooper discoverer 295/70/17’s on 8.5” Stealth Custom SR8’s. Tons of room, hard over to hard over; no rubbing. Although, the back mud flaps were 1/2” from touching tires. So, we took them off. The damn fender flare/mud flap game with these rigs is definitely aggravating! We’ll figure something out! He’s super excited; I’m super jelly! Ok, Why are my photos sideways!?
