What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Nearly done with my stealth sub install. Just some tweaking of the plastics remaining, but she bumps nicely.

My advice would be to cut out a piece of wood for the cover and get a proper speaker grill for that thing. I like the idea that modified door looks like a pretty bad hack job.

I keep trying to think of ways to make my sub take up less space but my storage cabinet is packed with gear.

Notched my Savage skid to clear LCA contact.

I don't recall seeing this brought up anywhere else, but it looks as though my lower control arms seem to contact the skid during their cycling. So I made a little bit of room with the grinder.

Yeah, not doing the plywood. This project isn’t done yet, btw^^ Not looking for your advice or to win any beauty pageants. I am though, considering fabricating a metal speaker cover that matches my custom molle panels.

Finally got around to doing the deck plate mod. It does sound a little throatier under acceleration, and possibly better throttle response. I’ll find a chance to calculate the fuel consumption and see if it makes any difference. Only time will tell.

Disabled my RS3000 alarm horn functionality - simply undo the G-R tap under the steering column (the one on the right below), and presto, no more horn if/when the alarm goes off (which has become an extremely frequent and annoying occurrence with mine).

Remote lock/unlock still works properly, and if the alarm does go off, the lights will flash - but no more insanely loud horn!

Kill Switch

I finished installing a hidden fuel pump kill switch. Soldered the wires to the fuel pump wire and wondering why I didn't do it the easy way and use a butt connector but it works.

Installed some Merry Christmas colored battery terminal insulators.

More than 5 years and this Toyota battery is still going strong!

Is this easily fixable?

I picked this up with my buddy for $2200. He took the nice leather seats and back lights and I keep the rest. I was thinking of parting it out for the e-locker and a few other nice things but it is so nice other than the front corner I would really like to get it back on the road.

The guy got drunk and hit a power pole and didn't claim any of it. So the title is clear. The pole miraculously just hit the front wheel so the control arm brackets on the frame are bent, the wheel sits back a few inches. I am thinking I can just take off the control arms and whack the brackets straight again? The frame is otherwise fine, no damage to the frame rails themselves.

The engine turns over and everything works amazingly even though the fuse box got smunched up. But the engine won't fire. Grill amazingly survived unscathed with only one broken clip.

Needs a new hood, windshield (his head hit it), fender and I'd need to cut out that corner of the body and weld in a new one. Is this practical? I don't see why not. Just cut it out where it's still good and cut out the exact same section from one from the junkyard and weld it back in. I have a new Champion radiator I could put in.

What do you think? This would easily go for $10k before the accident, it is in very good condition with virtually no rust. 2000 Limited with multimode xfer case

Im im really surprised you paid $2200 for that even missing seats. From my understanding once in a reck like that everything is compromised.

Good luck with the project I hope you come out on top.

Me too. That's Canadian don't forget so $1650 US. Up here I can get $800 for the axle, $500 for the seats based on what my buddy is telling me, $1000? for the engine, maybe $150 for steering wheel, couple hundred for wheels. Rear hatch goes for more than $500. Then everything else is gravy. I love that transfer case. Plus the transmission.

But I'll try to fix it up instead, the alignment shop estimates $1000 to fix the suspension without seeing it, hopefully I can get it lower than that.

I'd estimate at least $5K of just bodywork, on top of all the suspension work. Personally I'd part it out and put the money in the bank :).
