Long day of wrenching (9am~4pm)... but I got a good bit done too.

I've got it nice, access to a lift just ~200 feet back up a driveway, along with most tools one could want/need (though most are geared towards Big trucks, my in-laws own/operate a water drilling company), but it's still hard work going it alone.

Man, I had a bear of a time with the upper control arm on the drivers side. Fought and fought that thing, then decided to just move ahead with the springs and shocks and hope that when the axle was dropped, I'd be able to line it up. Thankfully that worked out... still managed to destroy a ratchet-strap. lol, who'da thukn I'd need/use more than 500lbs of force. Bent the metal, had to cut the dang strap.

I also discovered both sway-bar end links are in need of replacement, the rubber boot over the ball joint is toast, and what little lithium grease is left in there is essentially congealed.

Also discovered a worrying issue in the brakes. I'm guessing the seals are starting to go as I had a slight residue in there. Nothing you could really Feel, but zero brake dust.... I checked the axle breather months ago and it moved, bought a replacement anyway. I don't imagine this is one of them "clean it up, replace the shoes, replace the breather and all's well" situations, is it?

BTW, this is over $1000 in OEM parts. Most of it is in the smaller box. Hurts, but I've had Great luck with putting a ton of time/money/effort in at the Beginning of ownership and then coasting trouble-free from then on. Even when "then on" is 15 years later...

The ebay seller and I messaged privately and he gave me a quote to send me the foam with the leather. Just message them and ask for the foam.

So far, I have replaced the starter (OMG) and the battery. The battery was infinitely easier. There is no good way to get both hands around the starter and to the bolts. My arms have never been more tired after what should have been an easy replacement.

Unfortunately, the biggest issue is that the damn thing still won't start!!!

You'll be better served in figuring this out by starting your own thread. But please, be Extra detailed. When was the last time it started, what changed between the last time an the no-start (nothing is too small to mention). As for the no-start, is that no STARTER, or the starter turns but the engine doesn't fire. Have you done a voltage drop test on the battery (make sure it's capable of starting the vehicle). Do you have an immobilizer equipped T4R.... those are a Few of the key bits of info needed. But start a new post, I barely know anything about these trucks.

ABS sensor replaced - No more light

Finally got the driver side front sensor replaced on my 2000 4R yesterday.

No more ABS light. Found a sensor on Rock Auto for around $30.

Yeah I know sounded too good to be true compared to other prices you see. They had a variety from $27.95 up to $200.
I figured it was worth a try, if it didn't work would return and get one of the more expensive ones.

This one worked fine and fixed the problem!

Now on to new wheels next.
:- )

Replaced the license plate bulbs ( # 2825) after noticing one burned out this week.

Also, cleaned the bulb lenses and gaskets and I now have a properly illuminated license plate.

Don't want to give the POPO any reason to pull me over. :D

Fabricated a mount for my Ultragauge using the a-pillar handle screw as the attach point. Places the UG exactly where I want it, with no holes to drill, yay!

More jdm junk! Finally installed my late model oem visors (99-02 Hilux Surf) and Jaos flaps. Haven't installed the front flaps yet. Theyre non-universal, model specific to Hilux Surf 185 with proper metal install plates and hardware.

Buffed, polished, and ceramic coated the visors. Also replaced with new 'TOYOTA' decals. They look NEW! Not bad for being 18yr old visors!

Also bonus window reflectors for all windows (8 pc.) from a company in Japan. Don't ask me how much they were but they were worth it! Lol. i wish i made something cool like the dude with the custom magnet window covers, i forgot his username.

The window reflectors keep the interior super cool and block 100% UV. The quality of the foil is very nice and great for car camping. They're also reversible to keep the heat in on winter days. My truck stays in the driveway so i want to keep the interior mint. I wax my truck once a season.

those reflectors are KILLER. im sure they do an excellent job.

Cut and painted my fenders + clear corners

do you have a shot where we can see your f5s? i looked in your build thread and i didnt see a pic with the new wheels (no particular reason, i just really like f5s). those clear corners look great as well!

Thanks! I'll post another pic sometime this week, don't have any good side shots atm

Which Ultragauge version did you get ? I see they have 4 different versions. Looks like a nice clean install :bravo:
