Our stock tank is also 18 gallons. The reason most people do this is for ground clearance and driveshaft clearance when flexing. My tank can only hold 17 gallons now due to several rocks that caved in the bottom of my fuel tank. It also allows the hardcore guys space to put a 4 link rear suspension or go full flat belly.

Edit: Some people also use this as an auxiliary tank.

I'm doing it mostly for ground clearance and driveshaft clearance. But who knows what the future holds. I know I'm going to install on board air and a 2.5 gal tank would fit that spot perfectly. I haven't crushed my tank yet, but I don't go hard core wheeling yet (all stock at the moment). Also for better weight distribution. I like modding stuff, the f-150 tank is the same capacity as stock.

Back on topic, just ordered the hitch receptacle and will pick up the cross bar steel next week or this weekend. Also got the compression fitting and hose barb ends today. Poly body mounts will be here tomorrow and body lift will be installed this weekend. Getting an alignment tomorrow, and with all the front end work, the front rides so much better, minus the oem 19 year old shocks and 11 year old tires. I'll start work on the bumper next weekend yay.

Got rear ended last night, filed a claim, had an estimate done and it's right around $2k. I've been looking around for a dual swing out bumper with mounts for spare tire and jerry cans. Is there a favorite here? Looks like the CBI can be mounted to the 3rd gen even though it's not specifically for our model. Is this correct?

Dropped the rig off for alignment in preparation for the camping trip to WA this weekend.

Just picked up an oem radiator, upper/lower hoses, thermostat/o-ring, power steering reservoir gasket, and the various parts to fix a rear output shaft seal. Got a lot of work to do once I'm done doing all the other housework I have to do.

Pro Comp 1069 Wheels

Ordered Pro Comp 1069 polished wheels for my 2000 T4R, supposed to get them today but they got re-routed/delayed due to weather.

Bummer. Hopefully next week.

What are you using for the crossbar and hitch receptacle?

Using eimkeiths rear bumper, but bought a etrailer 2" receiver 6" long and .188 2x2 for the cross bar. I got a 5 foot stick of 2x2x.188 and I'll cut it down to size and the leftover I'll make some type of bicycle hitch with the leftovers.

Right in the middle of a alignment now, got the steel this am, decided to get some el chepo rear tires today to get me by for now to give me more time to bump up to 35's and save more money for rims and tires. Was going to do 255/85's but changed my mind. Will be on the lookout for a front 4.30 or any clamshell then send all the diffs to ecgs to get regeared to 5.29's and front arb.

2005 Tundra Break Upgrade

Hi Guys!

So I finally did the 2005 TBU. I went with the 231mm- 13WL
On stock 16" OEM 4-Runner 5-Spoke "Flower" Wheels, found on '01-02 models. I did zero modifications to the wheels or calipers to make it fit.
I've been driving for about an hour; the breaking feels stronger, controllable, bites immediately, and no more gliding to a stop.
There is a little more peddle travel that will take some getting used to.
I've owed the 4Runner over 10 years and should have definitely done this modification a lot earlier.

OEM Skid Plate Help

Hi guys, I'm new here. I visited a junkyard today and found an 98 SR5 that still had the front OEM skid plate that covers the very front of the engine near the radiator. I myself have a 2000 SR5 with only the oil pan OEM skid plate, but it looks like there is a spot on the front frame on my 00' that it might bolt on. Does anyone have any knowledge of if 98' OEM skids will fit a 00'?

I want to get it (and get it fast before it's gone) but not sure if it would fit or bolt on. Also is anyone familiar with what mm the bolts are? The yard closed and forced me out right as I was looking at it. I assume a 10mm or 11mm as they were rather small.

Replaced rear driver wheel cylinder and did another drain and fill of power steering fluid, steering getting smoother each time (would make sounds couple mins at a cold start)
