Bought a 2001 limited last week.
243k with all the maintenance records including the timing belt and water pump already done at 205k.
Well taken care of- no leaks - everything works except the clock and the power antenna.
Today I dropped the running boards, unplugged the ignition chime, and cut the wire for drl.
I had to cut the power wire for the antenna - the motor wasn’t raising or lowering the antenna - just making an ungodly noise.
The intact leather driver seat tells me “highway miles”.
It needs tires - I picked up some ‘14 sr5 wheels - rubber is next.

Pulled off the front driver door trim panel trying to diagnose a power lock issue. This clip/bracket landed at my feet... Looked at a couple of the threads about removing the door trim but didn't see anything about this piece. Part number is: Bracket Door Trim - Toyota (67625-35010). Anybody know its function or where this belongs?

Will be replacing radiator after the rain passes.
Radiator cap crumbled into original radiator with 263k miles on it. Plan on adding a lot more miles and would feel a lot better with a new radiator.
May also add a transmission cooler later.

the B&M kit is cheap enough that i just recommend doing it while youre doing the radiator. if you dont route the trans lines through the bottom of the radiator and just the cooler itself you will never have to worry about the pink milkshake issue.

I’m also chasing a power lock issue and had that part fall out... hopefully I saved it. I’m going to open the door up soon and see if I can get it back in there

Roof rack design

I've been braining out a diy no-weld roof rack design for my 2000 SR5 that I can't find any info on. Seems people either buy a 1k plus rack or a shit basket from amazon.

DIY no-weld will be either super-strut or 8020, depending on your budget. In both cases, there are demonstrations on youtube (not for the 4runner that I know of, but it's all the same outside of mounting it to the vehicle, and for that you just copy the $1000 systems).

Heck, looks like some people use other materials too.... just spend some time watching to see what clicks with you. Or buy a welder and be done with the 'no weld' stuff forever.

Ive been happy with what you call a "shit basket". A curt basket and two extensions that make it a full rack....that and a few goodies to mount it im in to it for under 225.

this time of year it is off as I have my Yakima storage box for my skis on top..and then in early spring and late fall ( after camping and building season) will haul fishing gear in it. Sure fishing gear and skis can fit in the truck...but why bring in the mess.

Topped off my oil since my valve covers went from a slight leak that just burned off on my exhaust to leaving a large amount of drops where I am parked and I need the ole gal to hold out till Saturday

Gave it a sad pat of the hood and told it next time.
Went recycle yard hopping and came across a locked 98, with everything there. Yard wanted $300 drum to drum.
Timing couldn't be more terrible.

Grabbed some roof crossbars from a '95 but they were too short, also grabbed rails, ribs, and 1 1/2 endcaps. Also grabbed 2000 limited leather headrests, and also had my first Colorado (weak) snow.

I'm guessing you haven't stumbled across any threads about the coil spring bushings? We all have dealt with it. Simple solution is to just pop the coil spring out and replace it with a linear (normal) spring from a older manual Toyota. The hook up spots for the linear spring are there in your 4runner still. Others have used hardware store springs (search).

Only downside is a slightly heavier clutch feel but in a week you'll forget about it. Mine's been done for years now.

Yes, saw that fix. Already have the new pedal and torsion spring/bushing. Thanks for the heads up.

I did the same last night after a hard pedal scare while running errands. I had an extra known good check valve that I tried with no change. Today I headed down to the salvage yard and picked up a Bendix (OEM) for $50 and installed. Back to business as usual!

Also a Mobil 1 oil & filter since I was past due.
