lmao that's exactly the bat shit crazy response I would expect from someone modding their 4r they way you are. I like it, not enough to get rid of a roll down rear window though. I'm always backing into trees on the trails. Surprised I haven't broken any windows yet. When I was fabbing my rear bumper, it ended up sticking out about 1.5 inches from the flares. I didn't like it at first, but it has prevented body damage so far.

Diff Oils and Coolant flush.
Since I recently got my 2001 4Runner I'm working on changing all the fluids.
Today I changed the differential and transfer case oils. I used the recommended Royal Purple 75w90. The front diff and transfer case were easy enough, however the rear diff was difficult. The fill bolt was rusted shut and I couldn't get it off. I even tried to put the cars jack under the wrench to break it loose

I ended up using a friends impact driver and that did the trick, the rest went smoothly.
Afterwards, I did the coolant flush. (Timmy the Toolman has a great video on how to do it). I used the OEM Toyota Red coolant. Unfortunately, the previous owner had some "mystery juice" in there but it did its job i guess. I discovered that my coolant reservoir and some of the hoses to the radiator were really gunked up, I cleaned it all up, but I might want to change the radiator along with all hoses soon. The only problem was to take out the coolant reservoir I had to unbolt the battery securing metal... the head broke off
I'll have to use a tap out to remove it and put a new bolt.
Overall went pretty well, lmk if you have any questions.

Took my wife out for some social distancing and ended u0 at Moonlight Racing, near Sullivan, MO. She wasn’t ready to go off the easy green trails (and my still stock ‘97 probably wasn’t up to the task either the way those ruts are worn in).
We were never actually stuck, but my forward progress was definitely stopped a couple times on some rock ledges and where I hit high-center up a hill and dragged my rear bumper on a couple spots. The e-locker got me up that hill but I didn’t feel like risking freaking out my wife trying to tackle a rock ledge with a stream flowing over it, even if it wasn’t all that big.
But she was the one who told me I needed to lift it and get bigger tires, so I still count it a win. Going to get skid plates on some of the exposed underbelly too.
On the negative, my brake rotors are definitely warped. I have tundra calipers sitting in the back waiting to be installed, but didn’t have the cash to get new rotors and pads until now. So the agenda this week is a trip to Knoxville to get my son’s stuff from the college campus (he was on spring break when they closed down for the CV), then do the brakes and differential oil changes (and maybe add in a transmission cooler too).

Napa & most automotive paint stores (the ones that supply paint for body shops) can mix OEM paint in spray can form, 1 quart & I think 1/2 quart. You can also get it through online suppliers like Auto Touch Up Paint | Buy Car Manufacturer's Factory Paint.
Ordered new coil packs because one of mine is starting to go out and I don't know when they were changed last, and started reading how to change the AC Compressor as mine went out in the late fall and I just cut the belt off, but now that it is warming up I am missing my creature comfort

I've bought NAPA OEM paint in spray can and 1 quart. It is pretty close but not as close as having a good body shop mixing the paint for you doing test samples & comparing it to your original paint. I haven't bought anything from the website I linked, I almost did but found what I needed locally.
well if I need one...Im gonna go toyota...too many reviews of bad aftermarket...well thats the plan.
HOWEVER...could I just have 2 bad inners...I have no leaks...ball joints and outters are only about 30k old...toyota..
but grabbed one of my grandkids and had them hold steering wheel tight as I checked both sides...now it appears could be the inners
however...Im not sure I am diagnosing right...would hate to put in two inners and find out I need a rack
would prefer not to spend the money on a rack if I dont need as I have other projects in the works...
like getting more overland ready for summer exploring and heading to seward in a month for some halibut fishing with my oldest son ( he has a charter boat there)
