I'm also waiting on my airaid intake pipe to get here. It's carb legal, which is what I need out here in california. Also why I did that to the air box so that it looks stock.

I know of some people that keep their stock stuff around too, and just switch them out when they have to get inspections, such as the air box and resonator.
someone receltnly posted that they needed those parts....just for that purpose as they had thrown out thier old ones b4 moving to CA. Ill be getting rid of my resonator, and modify the air box...but I have no inspections up here to worry about. But will keep around if I ever sell and want to keep those parts ( mod parts) for next project. So keep your old resonator around and if you ever come across a cheap stock air box, might be worth getting and keeping on a shelf. Maybe talk to other california 4runner owners about that.

Out here, as long as it's carb legal then you are good on smog and inspections. i'll be keeping my stock stuff just in case. I've been looking into it since i came from florida where you can do just about anything to your vehicle, as long as you have seat belts and lights you can drive around on a frame out there.

I'd agree with the radiator. The pink milkshake would really suck, but maybe it's been long enough that all the bad radiators have already failed. I haven't heard of it happening to anyone in a long time.



I'd also change the t-stat with the radiator, and do a tranny drain and fill.



Those bushing's make a huge difference, and for me it was especially true in the steering rack and front control arms.

Thats good to know, thank you both. I have receipts for a new radiator in Jan 2020 from the previous owner, so I'm good to go there.

I'm comfortable with the fluids, but I'd need to do some more research on the bushings first. I'm sure there forum posts on them out there.

replaced the very aging and very broken-to-the-point-of-serrated rear hatch weatherstripping. PN 68290-35020. the old stuff was just rotten and one of the gap clips was missing, so there was this hole going straight into the hatch. instead of coming out nicely, the old weatherstrip fought me, cracked and chunked off a few pieces into the hatch. it was useful to lower the rear glass first, and i used some trim tools to lever it out starting at one side. reinstall was straightforward except the wiper mount has a foam base that needs to be slightly held back out of the way.

Yikes! And are the axle seals leaking? Contaminated sticky shoes? Is the parking brake cable compromised and not releasing?

yeah my first thought but I asked a toyota mechanic and he mentioned air being in the abs system cause I did put a new master cylinder. checked for gear oil and nothing in site... so put new shoes , hardware kit, and drums and getting it taken care of on Thursday at toyota.. might be time for a brand new one haha

BTW ur rear is sagging. I suggest getting OME 906 springs

I just had some Whitelines installed in my LCAs about a month ago, and no noticeable squeaking or anything detrimental. Firmed it up over the blown out decades old stock bushings.

Not quite 2 years on mine and zero squeaks. I also have some Energy bushings on the steering rack and end links though, and they don't squeak either. Zero maintenance done to them (meaning I'm not under there soaking them in silicone all the time).

MASSIVE improvement in the ride quality though. Absolute best bang for the buck maintenance item I've done in regards to what you feel/perceive.

and driving on the same rough road, it has the exact same chattery squeak as before. this is just brilliant.

edit: and the culprit is: slightly loose body panel

panhard bar bushing replacement (whiteline W83374), greased the driveshafts, eliminated that vexing body panel squeak (loose nut where the fender meets the bumper).

finally received my window visors from JDM land after about 3 months, they look exactly like "well visors" just darker in color, but its crazy they were still cheaper then "well visors" after shipping to Canada so no complaints
