Just a quick question: How bad are your valve covers leaking? Have you pulled the spark plug?

My valve covers leak a tiny bit. There is some sludge around the gaskets but I'm not losing or dripping oil at a noticeable rate. I tightened some of the valve cover bolts about a quarter turn, they were surprisingly loose. I will do the valve covers eventually, but it doesnt seem to be an issue.

My misfire ended up being from a faulty ignition coil. Easy fix

Sure, taking more this time round

Now that's different for sure. Do take/post pics of the process and end product!

Here are a couple of the '12 MKS seats in '02 runner & final test run on a TED motor once I cracked the relay wiring

Trying to take more pics this time through. Even figure out how to use an online schematics site to draw up a - far from perfect - but serviceable diagram.

Really was not 1/4 as bad as some prev posters have made it sound.

Wiring the TED was a PITA that stymied me for like 18 months but figured it out on 2nd set.

Best guess is same or very similar schematic wiring should work on most heat/vent seats

Looking for a late model Mazda6 @ yard to try playing & verifying...

Didn't do anything to it but drive today. I did have an episode with the gas cap last week. Bought a new OEM cap and put on then started getting strong has fumes a couple months later. You could see the fumes coming out from the bottom of the fuel door. Looked all around it but ended up just buying a $7 stant fuel cap and it fixed the problem. Got my $33 back for the oem cap thankfully.

Ordered a pair of inner tie rod ends 45503-39075 from Amayama, waiting to see if they'll accept my order

Have they ever? I've tried 5~6 times, best case they were willing to send me 1 of 5 items (a washer IIRC), the rest all items NLA. I don't even bother with the overseas outfits anymore, just a waste of my time since they don't bother to keep their catalogs up to date.

I've had the same experience but others here are luckier apparently

FWIW they showed me "live inventory" of parts and the ability to choose from a warehouse

Waiting on an email confirmation/declination

I've never had an issue with amayama, but I haven't tried shipping anything big like an axle shaft or steering gear. Anytime they show the parts are available I've been able to get them.

I did a well overdue coolant flush on the '11 and it has 2 block drains and I got just over a gallon out on the passenger side and the '99 was about due for one too and I've been curious about fables of the 5vz block drain so I found it but it didnt have a little drain tube to connect a 5/16 ID hose like the 1GR (which has one for the radiator petcock too which is awesome). There was just a threaded hole. I spent about and hour trying to jam different things in there to catch the coolant. I finally sharpened a 1/4 hose like a pencil and wedged it in there and got maybe 8 oz out. Don't waste your time.

I was going to do a water flush on the 1GR but there's no way to maintain 50/50 with the SLLC 50/50 coolant, the only way is to flush it with SLLC at $60 a go so I skipped it. Anyway I had all these distilled water jugs so decided to do a completely pointless flush of the '99 and lets just say math isn't my strong suit so I did a bit of microdosing nom sayin and ended up lying on the garage floor at 3am with a calculator trying to figure out the LLC concentrate ratio after screwing the math up. If the total capacity us 9.5 qt with rear heater all I had to do was add 4.75 qts of LLC and then add water until it was full but I started thinking about whats left in the Lisle funnel and whats in the reservoir and got confused. I think I have about 45/55 at the moment because I put 4.25 qt LLC.

Now I have to figure out the math of how to get it another 0.5 qt in there and maybe a little extra for good luck. I had Zerex Asian in there previously and it came out looking fine if your interested.

Oh yeah I also spent 2 days looking up coolants. Pentosin A1 from NAPA is an alternative to red. Zerex Asian, Pentosin A4 and Aisin ACT-002 are NAPA alternatives for pink. In the end I just went to the dealership for the real stuff. I know people use Peak Global and stuff like that but I'm a nationalist when it comes to antifreeze recipes.

I've heard good things about Partsouq.com and they have inventory numbers and even photographs of the parts and they have the easiest diagrams, in fact I use Partsouq to find part numbers for everything and then cross reference with Olathe or McGeorge because Partsouq doesnt seem to bother with superseded part numbers. I haven't ordered from Partsouq yet though and noticed their prices have gone up in the last couple years since the happenings. They are actually more expensive for air filters and oil filters now. They are supposed to be fast at shipping from what I've read, faster than US dealers even. I think they ship from UAE.

I remember replacing these being a huge hassle and telling myself just to buy a whole new rack next time because a new rack comes with them installed. Which I need to do soon because the slow PS "seepage" I've had for a decade is dripping on the floor now and the steering feels weird (I have a blown shock too I think). From what I remember I couldn't find a narrow enough big wrench at ended up using the bench grinder to grind one thinner, which wasn't fun. I suggest shopping for some type of thin plumbing wrench that fits the ITRE before you start taking things apart, if they show up from Amaya. Hopefully it goes easier for you. Or if you plan on doing the rack within the next few years maybe just buy a rack instead and save the money on ITREs.

I would get a coolant tester and go from there. If the coolant meets the freeze point you need then I would leave it as is. If you need to lower the freeze point drain out some coolant from the radiator peacock and add concentrated coolant as needed. Run the engine enough to open the thermostat between testing to mix the coolant (ideally drive it a trip or two).

I don't understand the reference/question...

I was wondering what I was looking because it looked like a bunch of fab work like a cooking oil or LPG conversion or something that?

Probably have to be a 40 yr old Coast 2 Coast AM fan to get the John Titor ref. It was an elaborate hoax from 20 yrs ago and he'd post pics like that on forums of his supposed time machine.

Thanks I'm going to get one of those and double check it. I wasn't able to bleed it all the way because it was so late and not wanting to annoy neighbors and was able to get the rest in + another 12oz for reservoir (24oz to F line) after it made some room over night and I bled it again. Did a couple drives and it was pretty consistant 190F.
