Took out those useless Osidetiger injectors and put back in my OEM injectors cleaned and tested by MotorWest Performance.

LTFT is back to normal, all is right with the world. Oh what a feeling :).

I did the same thing on my engine after our recent head gasket repair job - watch part 1 of the series here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSFpwnCuBDk&feature=youtu.be

your "engine refresh" thread inspired me to do some cleaning of my own while we had the entire engine torn apart. It wasn't as thorough as your engine refresh but it was very dirty before. I would feel comfortable eating off this, for now.

Over the span of a couple years of collecting, snatching up zinc coated OEM Toyota fasteners off wrecked vehicles at the junkyard, I had a good selection to match the size of the bolt/nut I replaced.

Retapped Skid Plate Bolt Holes

I tapped one to 3/8 a year ago because it was stripped. The 3/8 head was 14 mm while the M8 heads were 10mm. That caused me minor grief more than once.

I recently noticed a 2nd bolt hole was nearly stripped so I decided to do them all (except front-center. I've never used that one).

3/8 tap with a 5/16 drill bit. Tapping upside down is a drag.

Seats are gross

Removed the fabric from a spare seat, pretreated/presoaked, and threw it in the washing machine on gentle (warm water, with no spin cycle).

Prior to throwing it in the washer, I used a Bissell Spot Clean Pro on it twice. Despite what I thought was a thorough clean with the Bissell, the water still turned yellow/brown during the presoak.

Can't beat washing the fabric.

Replaced CV boots for the 4th or 5th time in less than 3 years
Had outer boots that were cracking and wanted to stretch my inner boots. Took a gamble and used the OEM plastic boots and now they're rubbing against my LCA reinforcements, so clearly gonna be doing this job again within a couple months - if I'm lucky they last that long. To add insult to injury apparently CVJ axles come with boots stretched already.... The cherry on top was forgetting to put the snap ring back on so I'll have to do it again tomorrow :smashputer:
Words cannot explain how sick I am of this, I can't wait to be done with it all. IFS has made me grow to resent this car

How much lift do you have in the front? IMO most people way overdo it. I only have 1.75" and it still gives me more clearance up front than my rear pumpkin and I get a bunch of downtravel. CV angles are nice and moderate and boots on my Duralast CVs aren't rubbing when at static equilibrium.

Around 2.5 at best, maybe even less. In fact I have new rear coils to put in to help level it out so I can avoiding raising the front end more, even though I could raise the front perches (or rather, in theory I could)

Looking good Sean! I didn't have the patience to assemble a full complement of used fasteners with still-intact plating, so just having mine replated all at once made more sense.

Your engine bay looks great!

Went to put the snap ring on today... My pitman puller slipped while pressing out the LBJ stud and completely rolled over the first 3 threads and basically destroyed it. And I have uniballs so I can't just go pick them up :frusty:
No big deal, I have spare OEM LBJs.... so I go to grab them and lo-and-behold the passenger side stud is just as bad. Not to mention I apparently yeeted the castle nuts at some point.... I got a feeling I forgot these were scrap  Better to figure it out now then 50 miles from civilization though!
On the plus side I'm now so proficient at working on the front end I started work at 4:58 and had the snap ring back in and the axle ready for re-installation by 5:15

So glad that the solution was simple. I have Osidetiger injectors in 3 of my vehicles and they are an excellent upgrade. Sounds like they did not engineer this solution for the 3.4L correctly -- was a bummer!

The idle has been high and erratic, and I already cleaned the Idle Speed Control Valve once - pretty well. So this time, I pulled it out and replaced it with a new part. Yes, I stayed away from all these super cheap imitations and bought the OEM. Now it idles purrfect. But that is kind of an expensive part.

Hopefully it wasn't my fault somehow. I do clean my throttle body, and I have learned you need to be careful about causing issues with your IAC by allowing runoff to flow into the IAC. But I pulled the IAC and cleaned it already. The problem went away and then came back again about 6-8 months later. Weird it got better when I cleaned it, but then got worse again. Makes me wonder if their is another problem that caused it to go bad.

Most people don't think like that about their vehicle, much less their own body. When something goes wrong, usually something you can put your finger on made it go wrong in the first place. Of course, with a vehicle, parts just wear out. And with your body, if you take care of it your parts don't wear out for quite awhile.

Trying out some new gloves. I like them. They have more certifications than I do (not exactly difficult ) :D

Installed the LCE short throw shifter kit today. Insane how much it shortens the throw. My elbow never has to leave the console rest now! Almost seems too short but I'm sure that feeling will subside with use. Feels like a race car almost if it wasn't for the fairly gutless 3.4. Also nice to have the bushings refreshed in there. There's so little slop in my shifter now.

Did a bunch in trying to solve my ticking noise. Took off both driveshafts and greased them, double checked all the PS line brackets were tight, took my belts off and spun my pulleys, scouted around and tucked away a few wires and connectors that were a little loose. Crossed my fingers and hooked up the gopro for a drive...
Still no difference, just a waste of a sunday morning. :ranger: :sobbing:

What codes exactly are you getting?

So, funny story, the codes were engine misfires only on the right bank, plus rough idle. The weird thing is that it only happened after the engine warmed up, when it was cold it ran fine.

I changed the plugs and wires, and eventually gave up and drove it to a mechanic for some advice. They took one look at it and said the cam on the right side was 180 degrees off, turns out I'm an idiot and lined up the timing with the wrong part of the pulley (the tab thing and not the engraved notch).

I figured if I had made a mistake like that it wouldn't run at all, but it ran actually pretty well with the whole cam upside down. With the cam fixed I don't have that problem anymore.

That is pretty funny :pound: I'm surprised it ran at all

so today I chanced it....my rear window went up and down...my sunroof opened and closed

sometimes simple things are a chance to be happy
