What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got the GMRS all squared away. SWR on ch 1 - 1.15 swr, ch 15 - 1.19 swr, ch 30 - 1.32 swr. Absolutely perfect, all under 2 swr.

Also after filling up with fuel I'm now at 12 mpg's city driving. Thinking of doing a "hard" reset by leaving the battery disconnected for a few hours. To relearn everything. This is post ccv elbow fix.

Also ordered up the house battery, and solar panel to start collecting the stuff for the end of this build. Solar is a renogy 250w bifacial 16bb panel. It puts out a nice 13 amps and 22v. I was going to use a 200w renogy shadow flux, but it only put out 8 amps and 42v. The charge time calculation was so much shorter I went with the 250w panel.

It was time for a pair of front shocks

Took me way too long (fists of ham) but I got these on. Forgot the battery to my impact AND a 1/2" drive 19mm socket ( RE: the tire iron). Out with the 5100s, in with the 6112s.

Had a fun few hours yesterday eve crawling around the underside of my 4Runner (automatic) in a public parking because the damned thing randomly decided it wants to drive in every shift position, even reverse and neutral - though of course I can force it into neutral with the engine off.

AAA guy helped me push it backwards out of the spot in neutral. Drove the few blocks home, felt like it was jumping into lower gears going up hills.

Never had any transmission issues, fluids are good, no grinding or clanking or shifter issues otherwise. Linkage superficially seems fine from underneath but don't have a second person to give me a visual on movement.

My adventure today was finding out that all the 'good' shops in the area can't get me in until next week. Doesn't seem like a shot transmission, hoping it's something simple I can figure out before then.

Due to the site sustaining permissions issues for threads with 100+ pages, I'm starting this new thread for you guys. I can merge the threads together at some point, if the issue every gets fixed.

Enjoy

Replaced the reverse lights with bright LEDs...replaced the burned-out rear license plate bulbs...fixed the door sensor so that the cabin light turns on and off in the "door" selection.

Gave him a much needed wash. Cleaned all the windows. Then just plopped in my favorite chair and just chilled with the runner.

I replaced all the parts in the fuel tank. New pump, sender assembly, and suction tube assembly. I did the pump for preventive maintenance. The others I did for fuel gauge accuracy. As soon as I started it up after I replaced everything my fuel gauge went up a good amount and is much more accurate now. It was about 2-3 gallons off before. I would fill up when my fuel light was on before and it'd be about 12-13 gallons. Now it was 16 gallons.

Had some success, had some failure.

2000 SR5 4WD, auto, non locker, 265/70R16, 148K.

Needed suspension upgrade. Got a kit with 5100's, 880 front/906 rear.

For the rear, new rear upper and lower control arms, panhard bar bushings, and sway bar end links.

The front was just going to get the loaded struts until I can get the balance of suspensions parts (UCA, LCA, LBJ, UBJ, inner/outer tie rods, etc).

Anyway, the rear parts went in, with some issues, but everything went in. Got about 2.5" of lift on the rear. Did that on Saturday.

I could not get the front driver's side inner strut nut off. I figure this was the hardest one and if I can't get it by noon today, it's game over because I need the vehicle tomorrow. I tried for about 2-3 hours. Bought a dremel, tried to get a carbide bladed multi-tool in there, nothing worked. The dremel almost got it but I went through six little cutting discs.

Since the front struts were a fail....I did the rear pinion seal, which was leaking pretty bad.

Before and after. Yes, It's got a little rake....

spartacus thanks for catching that, meant plopped but got autocrocted. I can assure you there was no pooping lol!
