I've never heard anything before about a special adapter. Where did you find that info?

Just ordered my new AC Condenser (Kool Vue, autopartswarehouse.com). My old one has a crack and won't hold pressure. My trusted garage wanted over $600 to do the work but with the part around $100, I can do my own labor then pay them another $100 for a full and proper recharge.
We have wet winters up here so the drying/dehumidifying effect of a properly functioning AC system for defrosting will be nice to get back.

Really trying to avoid going to the dealer but so far 2 shops with the Hunter machine had no clue about the adapters, so I might have no choice.

nice, we haven't had any snow nor cold days yet, this is unusual cause by thanksgiving its always cold as shit.
I've been using them for over a year. Make sure you use ceramic beads, as glass will turn to dust over time and steel will tear up your rims. Also, if you are going 33" or bigger and mud terrains put in another half the weight suggested. Mud terrains tend to have heavy spots and it takes a little more.
The beads have been flawless. I don't even notice them, always balanced except when the rims are packed with mud. Which is often for me....
I forget our trucks come with these, I haven't had them in quite a while. I've read you can, some will damage them but I think that's the steel ones. I would read up on it online and make your choice. Make sure you use ceramic beads.

edit: Yes, that's an orange duck with a pink ribbon sitting on my desk. The duck is from Hooters and the ribbon was from breast cancer week last year. It was only fitting.
