What did you do with your 4runner today?

First day owning my ‘08 4Runner and I drove her to the Leaning Tower of Dallas. I got to test the 4WD a little bit more in the field for some pictures! Loved it! Can’t wait to start doing some mods over spring break.

Cleaned up the interior a little (long overdue)... Managed to snap my shift release cap while doing it :ybrick:

Replaced all of my burnt out HVAC lights with some eBay LEDs. The OEM sockets are way better but these function better than dead bulbs.

Also upgraded all the interior lights to LED. I'm not typically a fan of the cool white light but they'll hopefully be brighter.

Installed an ARB Twin Compressor today using the @%1; mount with the switch bracket. Extremely impressed with the quality of his mount. Well thought out. Every worked out pretty good.

FWIW, I feel I can’t see nearly as well after replacing my map & dome lights w/ LEDs. Maybe it’s the temperature of the light but it’s tougher to read things for example.

Or maybe I’m just old. :cry2:
 
Replaced my gas tank straps. Rear was separated into 2 pieces due to rust. I was able to loosen the skid plate and snake it in. Then I dropped the skid entirely and replaced the front strap which was still intact but rusty. 20200301_114101.jpg20200301_120008.jpg20200301_125034.jpg

Finally pulled off factory running boards. Also, replaced rear brakes, added hitch recovery hook, and replaced original spare tire with a Wildpeak to match the other 4.

Got my first 4runner this week. An 04. So far, fixed the fuel door, re-sealed the headlight, changed oil. Also ordered a coverlay dash cover and a replacement sub woofer for the blown jbl.

Next is a new head unit. I don't have any cassette tapes.
 
The day didn't go as planned ( which is normal for me) but I replaced the rear sway bar bushings, Chagned the rear diff fluid... very black and gunky! and greased the rear part of the driveshaft. Tomorrow is another nice day I'm going to try take advantage of!
 
finished wiring and tested the new fuel tank using the relocation kit from eimkeith. Time to see if I can hit 600mi range.

edit: Apologies to all, I just realized that I had ventured into the 4th gen threads from the "todays posts" page when I posted this. I saw the "what did you do today" and dove right in. I didn't mean to get anybody hopes up only to have them dashed a few posts later. Still learning my way around actually contributing to the forum.

Replaced the rear shocks and sway bar.. Link. Still working on the driver side one its being a c***.

I had the top bolt of the shocks cherry red and in the end I twisted it so much that the bolts just snapped off. Learned a trick for the top bolt of the rear sway bars though!

Lots of rust, cursing, and pain. 3 trips to home depot which is fine cause the cashier was cute and she liked to talk for a bit!
Gonna be trying a nut buster since apparently the vise grip and socket/ratchet combo i used on the other 3 links doesn't wanna work for this last one. UGH

Toyota really didn't leave alot of room to work with on some of this stuff.

Phone pictures so the lighting is kind of weird. They are less green than the images shown, more of a cooler color.

They aren't a whole lot brighter than the OEM bulbs, but they'll take less battery and they were also a cheap eBay set. Also makes it feel a little more modernized.

I bypassed the JBL amp, no regrets... Got the metra bypass kit and used the factory harness and box for the sub, connected the metra wires to my sub amp.
