What did you do with your 4runner today?

Welp, I broke down and bought a Smittybuilt X2O 10k winch to throw into the Gen 1 Shrockworks bumper...I'm looking forward to not have to need it

Btw, anyone know what the rules are for creating new posts? I was trying to post for sale a brand new TRD supercharger for a 4th gen 4.7 Non-vvti. Everything is new in the box, factory sealed, with TRD ECU and Panasonic ToughBook with TechStream. I am asking $15,000 which I understand is a little high, but finding a complete, brand new, never installed kit is almost impossible.

Started replacing the plastic coolant bypass pipe on the 2TR-FE. You guys won't have this issue as it wasn't fitted to the 4Runner over there, just the Tacoma.

It was very brittle and the end spigot snapped off as I manhandled the intake out of the engine bay.

The truck has lost coolant gradually ever since I bought it. I'm just hoping it hasn't been run dry in the past.

Doing thermostat and water pump too.

I hope you swapped that with an aluminum version! I remember having to do this on my D2 Audi A8 and S8! Such a damn dumb/easy thing to need to update!

Thanks for the advice lol. I'll definitely get more points on the board.

It's kind of bittersweet for me since I really wanted to install this kit. Having another 60-80hp would make a big difference when wheeling.

Yes, you're right the ally version should always have been fitted. Very un-Toyota like. They updated it in 2009 I think but who knows how many engines cooked themselves in that time. At least fit a coolant level warning if you're going to make cooling system parts out of chocolate!

ATF fluid exchange via the return line from the radiator.

I need to confirm the level but a JOBD scan tool I bought does not connect to read the AT temp, so I will just have to drive it for 20 mins, check it, top up if needed and call it good.

Ugh. Can’t get my pic to load. There is a rad in front of the main rad. About 3/4 the size.

Finally back on load range C tires. Load E's are too much on these little trucks. Cheapest 315s I could find though, $152 each shipped tax included :spy:

This time I hired an air compressor rather than using paintbrushes, but it did mean wearing respirator, goggles and over-suit in summer heat.

At least it's mostly done now.

I BROKE IT!!

I got back to our shop in my work van, parked it and got in my T4R to go home, started it up, shifted into drive and gave it the gas.....IT WENT BACKWARDS...and almost into a drainage pond but I got it stopped in time...it's the dreaded shifter cable bushing issue where the bushing gets brittle and breaks up and allows the shifter cable to pop off the pin that connect it to the shifter, the cable popped off as soon as it shifted into reverse, it's very surprising to go backwards when you are expecting to go forward! LOL

Drove the work van home, to hot to try and fix it today, going back early in the morning to fix it and bring it home.

Replaced the clock spring in hopes this takes care of the SRS airbag light and codes. Also cleaned the MAF and started checking fluids and everything for an upcoming road trip to Utah next week.

I got it temporarily fixed, looked at several auto parts stores for a bushing assortment that might have a bushing that would work, no luck, so it's zip tied together for the time being until I can get a replacement bushing, good enough to drive it for while.

Finally got my steering wheel button properly done up. Maestro RR to re-program the steering wheel buttons so volume is up down and seek is left right then Meso customs steering wheel fix button kit. Made zero sense for volume to be left/right lol
