What did you do with your 4runner today?

I just replaced the bushing in my SPC UCAs to their new X-Axis Bushings, as well as updating to the "maintenance free" upper ball joints...I had a clunk and hated replacing the UBJs to have them leak or need more grease...it was a B1tch to get the old bushings out of the UCAs but man, is it nice, smooth, and quiet now! The work was worth the updated feelings! I had originally torqued the UCA bolt in the air and that's the reasoning behind what I found to be my clunking. This time I did it at ride level and all is well, now.

I called Summit Racing, who I believe are suspension specialists, about replacing shocks in my 07 T4R, 8 cylinder, and was told that they have "nothing" for the front end, they only have rear end items. Is there some sort of height issue that will affect other front end components (stabilizer bars, UCA, etc)? Anybody know of a company that does sell front end struts which will fit my ride? I will be reaching out directly to Bilstein, Eibach, and others to see what they have to say because I really want to tear out the XREAS to find happing.

I'm guessing Summits problem is they are not familiar with the xreas system and so don't show an alternative damper. Just Google Bilstein or Eibach, or whoever for your year and you'll get options. I used 4600's the first time with FJ springs and now running Dobinson IMS with the FJ springs.

Saved a few nickels today. My key fob stopped working. Battery tested good. Re-flowed battery contact solder joints. Fixed for now.

This was last night but I finished late then had to pack, clean up and eat dinner before trying to get sleep to wake up at 2:30 am to work today. Got my rear bumper mounted to the truck. It still has quite a bit of work to do but I needed to have it on before driving up to Salt Lake City this afternoon.
I like how this kit turned out so far. I still need to fab up a swing out, finish some grinding and final painting.

Removed oxidation from my chrome bug deflector

2007 limited with an old style chrome plated bug deflector. Thought I could get the green oxidation off the deflector. Worked ok with vinegar and water....small things for the 4runner happiness.

Threw some Bilstein 5100’s in, along with OME 895e for the rear. Vise grips, channel locks, and lots of PB didn’t work so reciprocating saw it is!

Tomorrow is front with 5100/883 and new KYB top hats, excited to see how everything turns out.

Can you do some before/after measurements? Assuming your pre-lift ride height wasn't sagging, of course. I know you have a facelift 4th gen vs my 05 but I'm curious about the 883 ride height/center hub to fender measurements. My 884s seem to have given more than advertised lift.

Yeah I’ll grab those measurements for you, I have the before lift specs written down somewhere ages ago.

Before: back in 2019, stock suspension with around 190,xxx miles, and some Wildpeaks AT3W.

After: 5100 with OME 883/895e, hatch with spoiler and colored matched handles. Up next are 255/80/17 AT4W, can’t wait to be back in some Falkens.

ECGS front and rear diffs came last weekend! Installed and now going through the 500 mile break in. Went with 4.10 gears and a rear e-locker. Stoked to put it to use!!

I replaced the front passenger window control button. I know this seems like very small potatoes in comparison to the other mods in this forum, but I am very new to doing car maintenance/repair, and was quite proud of myself. Following videos online made it fairly simple, but I highly recommend having a second person to help with holding the door panel when necessary.

Next, I want to replace the driver-side front door speaker, which has died. I want to make the process as simple as possible, so I just want to get the OEM speaker (maybe upgrade later, but initially just want to see if I can do the process). I'm having a tough time figuring out the part number (07 4Runner). Anyone know if this is correct? 86160-35180 for the tweeter and 86160-22A00 for the speakers? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Did
1) full drain and fill of the ATF using Maxlife red. Also added a bottle of Lubegard red.
2) TPMS bypass
3) removed rear hatch card, coated everything with fluid film. This also got me access to rear of license plate screws, so I could undo license place with the assist of free all.

So I misplaced that notebook with the before measurements I took years ago but here are the after specs if you’re still interested. Ended getting a local set of Toyo RT in 255/80 off Marketplace.

FD: 21 1/8
FP: 21 1/4
RD: 23 1/4
RP: 23 3/8

Also before purchasing the 883’s, I did read online a lot of people who ran 884’s ended getting more lift than expected.

Finished raptor lining my 4runner... Finally

Raptor lined all the plastic panels about 4 years ago. 5 years ago? Got tired of scratches and bike handlebars on the paint.

So I did this.

Very happy with the results. I like shiny paint more, but I didn't want to maintain it.

Oh, and polished and 2k clear coated my 6 year old Chineseium headlights so they look new again. (Sadly they will still get moisture inside from time to time...)

Nice overhaul!! The paint turned out great. I'm jealous of your paint booth.. mine looks more like a driveway and some rattleyboys!

The grill turned out great, too. I'm planning on chopping mine up this weekend and replacing it with some wire mesh. There was a great how-to thread somewhere on here that I have bookmarked.

Paid a local muffler shop $40 to cut off the resonator and reroute the exhaust to the side. As others have noted, this makes no difference in sound.

Added a prospeed roof rack. It had the front wind fairing missing so I added a prinsu wind fairing off FB marketplace from a 09 Taco... fit nicely imo

6 weeks since anyone has done anything to the 4Runner? Dredging up this old thread...

I installed my junkyard Cooper ATP2 tires. They are over 90% tread. I had them mounted on my spare set of rims so it was DIY in my garage. ATP2 is not all out terrain and is tuned for street use. They are nice riding and as quiet as my previous set of street tires.

New wheel bearings/hubs (SKF) and used 5th gen CV axles. Put a new axle seal in dif on passenger side as well as new knuckle seal. Job went pretty smooth, no major issues! 161K miles. Did this as preventive maintenance as I had no issue going on.
