I used regular paint on my grille first, and it didn't last long. Plasti Dipped it and it stayed like that for a month before I took the plasti dip off and used a flat black industrial enamel on it. Looks plasti dipped but it's permanent and not a scratch or a chip in it.

Yeah thats what I'm doing. I had dip on my grill for a while and its holding up good so i figured why not dip this one.

Drove up to Maine and said goodbye to my 1953 Willy's wagon 
. Dropped it off at its new home
Had heating issues with the very hilly New Hampshire roads. Caused, of course, by my mud-packed radiator. Never got into the red zone thank god!
Turned the heat on full blast and I didn't have any more issues (though even with the windows down, it was hot as hell in there)

Drove my Audi to SF because my brother borrowed the 4R to Yosemite. His friends have a silver 4th gen too. Also ran into a silver 4th gen Sport w/ Toytec Ultimate lift on Embarcadero in SF & lo & behold, it's another T4R member... [MENTION=83341]Ghost600[/MENTION]

I put this in the 4th Gen. WOW is this thing massive and heavy. Also, if anyone is looking for a battery Sears has an online deal going so this battery is only $217. You must order online and pick up in the store though. I ordered on my phone when I got there since I didn't realize it was online orders only.

^ I see the 4th gen wheels are now on the 3rd. Mine are now on dad's Taco. Great to keep 'em in the fam.
When I picked up the 4th it had street tires. I had just put Duratracs on the 3rd so the easy thing was to swap wheels and tires. My daughter will be driving the 3rd so no reason she needed the Duratracs.

Just ordered mine and wondering what you torqued yours to or if you did it by hand

The valve comes with a crush synthetic (fiber?) crush washer, so I just torqued it by hand, then gave it a couple more turns with a wrench.

For the actual metal grille you should clean first with mineral spirits then use an acid etch primer then black enamel, and for the actual plastic piece sand it first with 400grit, hit it with some plastic primer, then finish with the same black enamel. Creates an even tone between the grille and mesh and won't flake off or pit.

X2. My mesh was powdercoated but for the grille i did 80 grit sanding, 180 grit, plastic primer, filler primer, paint, clear coat

also, speaking of grilles, I mounted mine today. This took me two months, 38 (literally) Dremel cutoff wheels and a ton of trial and error. And this cost me the friendship of my neighbors who cannot stand my dremling :wink2:
The color matching is nearly perfect. I could not be happy with ATU. It cost me less than 50 to paint the grille and I have enough left over for more painting. I'm going to color match everything. Maybe even my dog.
I couldn't get it to fit so I gave up for a while, but it just took copious amounts of trimming and playing with.
Getting the subframe from the 06+ grille to fit with the 03 headlights and bumper was a nightmare
One corner:
Front: (I may be ditching the bull bar and getting a smaller one)
The rubber is a bit smushed, but i'll fix that when I do my onboard air mod tomorrow

Man, that is one sweet grille! I'll trade you a drop-in AFE filter for it!
