Painted the chrome hatch trim black.
Oh and I closed the hatch without it plugged so I had to crawl into the back, pull the interior door trim off and plug the damn thing back in......pretty sweet huh? Lol
Looks good! How easy/difficult was it to remove that chrome piece? I have it too, as well as the chrome grille and door handles and toyed with the idea of painting those, but I don't know how extensive it is removing that rear piece.

greased up my driveshaft, used the lucas oil red and tacky to replace the green stuff i had, good thing i went to harbor frieght and got an Air Grease Gun Central Pneumatic - item#219 , i like it, easy and pulse action, not continuous but from the reviews it said that other gun is bad. no more having cramp hands with manual guns now.

It wasn't too bad, the part that sucked was me closing the hatch without plugging everything back in.....so I had to crawl into the cargo area and fix that. It took maybe an hour start to finish with grabbing more beer and letting the paint coats dry. I want to paint the door handles as well. I've already done part of my grill. I hear the door handles are a huge pain the the balls.

Thanks Chris, I went back and forth on if I should do the ladder or not but it's so much more convenient when I have stuff on my rack. I thought about color matching the chrome piece but I already had the black paint and thought it would go well with the ladder.

did you just use spray paint to black out your chrome? or what did you use cuz it looks really good

Thanks man, I sanded up the chrome and painted it with crackle finish paint.

I changed my leaking CV seal on the passenger side. I posted a few days ago that I spotted the leak. One important note, if anyone tackles this for the first time, please DO NOT hook the claw of the slider hammer on the outter Boot Band. If you've done this job, you know what I mean.
I tried taking the easy way instead of following step 12, I put the hook on the outter boot, and the whole axle seperated and dumped all the grease on my garage floor!! DOH!! Hopefully anyone who reads this will learn from my lesson. See write up below:

Installed an LED backlight for the 4x4 switch. Solved all the hot/cold spot issues of using a drop-in LED bulb. Taking orders now lol. Many color combinations to choose from!

Had it inspected this morning, then drove back to Hartford through the lovely weather we're having. Not even a second of worry behind the wheel. Sure beats the nerve-wracking trips I've had the last couple years in my Jeep.
Then sat on the phone for 1.5 hours talking to my dealer, then insurance co, then insurance broker. Apparently you need the license plates on the vehicle to have the initial policy photos taken (not sure why) Dealer won't have the plates until at least Friday, and pictures need to be submitted by Thursday. Whee.
:shrug: At wits end with this entire process. The satisfaction of driving it is keeping me sane.

How did you rig up your reverse lights and what did you for the extra brightness?
Took some pics of the lights and photobucket mobile didnt let me upload last night, so here it is, my catz msp are warm white compare the hid reverse.

I believe he used HID bulbs for the reverse lights.
I swapped my reverse lights out for some fog light bulbs. About 4x as bright! About $10 and 20 minutes.
I like his idea but I'm just not crazy about HID's.... Maybe once I do a retrofit I'll change my mind.
